Finally caught the first episode of Season 6.
The scene at the church really threw me. I know it was back in the day…when whatever you did to disgrace yourself, also disgraced your whole family. But Mary and kids being shunned in the one place that’s supposed to be the cornerstone of compassion, marks a pretty dark day for “practice what you preach”.
If Georgie had been with them, I’d understand (but still would not condone) the cold-shoulder-you-are-not-wanted-here treatment.
They were acting as if “sin” rubs-off, and as if neither they (nor anyone in their family) ever erred.
True to his nature...
Sheldon!

From my experience, while people may still shun the wrongdoer; they are more apt to show sympathy toward the family. Of course, people will still and but, now…unlike back then…I think they are more likely to pull together to help than band together to hurt. I find this especially to be true when there are kids in the family.
Anyway...
If you run across folks who "still act this way"...
It's just that it takes some individuals longer than others to see the light, and become what they think they are.

Yeah. People can call themselves what they want; but, what they DO is who they are.
