Discuss Young Sheldon

... to know if fans of TBBT like this show or not. They seem very different in types of humor and emotional appeal.

I tried to like TBBT several times, but couldn't. I found it shallow, unfunny and annoying. I'm a huge fan of YS. And Annie Potts is the cherry on the sundae.

Yeah, on last nights episode where she put George Sr. on a wild goose chase all the way to New Orleans to find the ingredients for her brisket. That was funny.

Huge fan of both shows here.

This is a much better show than the current state of The Big Bang Theory. :) Much, much better.

I won't give up on TBBT, I'll see it to the end because I've invested so much time in it, but it is overdue to end.

Annie Potts is the most annoying part of this show. Her delivery is horrible.

I really like both shows. Sheldon's image was very close to me even in the Big Bang Theory. He taught me not to be ashamed of myself and my hobbies. I ended up successfully entering college and working in rewriting services. The show about young Sheldon is much deeper and more emotional. Looking back into my past, I see many parallels in it and am amazed at how accurate Sheldon's portrayal of geeks is.

I usually don't see an entire series anymore unless it's already in syndication. I liked TBBT, a nerdier Friends, but fought YS's main character too robotic at first. I then got into the show because of the sister's comedy and Annie Pott's too. The main character has to grow and adapt into what social skills he develops. This is of course pre TBBT. Not all franchises stay true to that concept. Star trek being just one example. Kirk's Klingons are different than Archer's.

I saw the Pilot, like it and the characters, but had no desire to watch the series.

However...

After TBBT ended, I decided to check it out again. Became a fan…zipped through old episodes…been watching since.

Although it’s title “Young Sheldon;” it feels more ensemble-driven than main-character-driven. I think storylines are more balanced than on TBBT. That is, on any given week any cast member or supporting cast member’s storyline can carry an episode. It’s a rock-solid cast, and the university-life-crowd is just as entertaining as the home-life-crowd.

I’m a big fan of George, Sr; and MeeMaw is a scene-stealer—if she carried a .38—she could give my aunt a run for her money (kidding?).

Well, you should go back and finish TBBT to see how everything turned out.

I actually stopped watching The Big Bang Theory when Young Sheldon premiered because this show was better and I was tired of TBBT by then.

"this show is way better"... thinkingWhy/How?
