Discuss Dark

Actors - awful, acting - really awful, directing - pathetic, editing - unprofessional, translations - cliche cheesy bad. But the plot is compelling. Takes forever to get started. Uneven with senseless filler. The concept is what kept me watching, but I struggled all the way through.

So many things bad and wrong, but had to watch

The very mindset that allowed Two Girls, One Cup to become a viral sensation

good analogy! >:D

My gawd, the ending sucked balls!!!

You talking the 3rd (THIRD) season ending?

If so that's quite some dedication to a show you claim to have disliked so much!

Anyway, I'd never watched previously but just binged the lot over the past few weeks. Really enjoyed it. I wonder if watching all in one go without the gaps waiting between seasons made a difference.

Some quibbles which the nature of this type of show will inevitably bring up I guess but I thought it was excellent to watch a series wrap up satisfactorily like that without end loose ends.

... And avoiding the cheesy Jonas & Martha surviving together in the original world ending which I was fully expecting!

"Maaaaaaartha.... How do you know that name?!"

Actually, the funny thing is that joke pretty much works for Dark Season 3 as well!

I didn't watch it all in one go. But I did have to read extensive recaps before I started each season. So I could imagine how hard it could be. There's so much to remember and it's so complicated. Especially season 3 which just went absolutely mental. I might watch the whole thing again some time but watch it all in on go so I can get a better understanding of it all and enjoy the complexities.

There was a family tree chart somewhere online. I only found it after completing the first season as I didn't even want to google anything once I was hooked to avoid spoilers!

Anyway it had been updated for each season, so you could just look at the season 1 chart while watching season 2 just as a reference point.

Did you enjoy it? Probably my favourite bit of television from last (lockdown) year - and I watched a lot!

Yeah, I loved it. My second favourite tv show of the moment and I think it's the best current show on Netflix. Though seen as it's finished now I'm not sure I can still call it current or of the moment.

And after only just finishing season 3 I have to let it digest.

I think I would have preferred it if it slowed down a bit. Season 3 did reveal a lot of complex plot details very rapidly. And if the show slowed down to explore some of the character's situations rather than being so focused on plot and exposition then it could have spread the season out into 2 seasons and been both easier to follow and digest while having greater character development. But despite this I did really enjoy it.

@Dean09199 "I can't believe that this TV show is still ongoing and TV show like "The OA" got canceled, which was ten times more interesting and tense and it's about parallel worlds as well."

I liked The OA until they danced. That ruined it for me.

Never watched that but I see it's got Jason Isaacs in it whom I thought was great in Star Trek so perhaps I'll give it a shot...

However you'll be pleased to hear that Dark isn't ongoing, it concluded after the third season.

I binged Dark, last week. I usually don't like dubbed shows but it sucked me in. In my opinion, it got better with every season. I hated getting to the finale. I wanted more. They could have easily gotten 2-3 more seasons but, unfortunately, 3 was all the producers wanted.

And that's exactly why The OA isn't ten times more interesting and tense than Dark. After that point it's hard to take it seriously. I liked The OA up until that bit too. I think 'better than Dark' is a bit of a stretch but it did start out very well.

I definitely didn't like The OA better than Dark. After the season 1 finale with the expressive dance, I quit watching. I took that quote from Dean09199 but messed it up when I responded.
