I agree! Came here to say the same thing but I also think Sarandon was outstanding. I really believe she was Bette. Great show, it was like a big slice of delicious cake ever Sunday. Loved it!

But Lange took her performance to a whole new level in the last episode. I've seen lots of her work and that last episode was her finest moment ever.
All season I was a little annoyed by Langes performance I dont know, her make up maybe distracted me or her accent (which I love btw)
And couldn't keep thinking how great Sarandon was, on every scene.
But damn! This last episode has left me sad, really moved me, Lange live long woman!
I was captivated by the whole season. But last nights episode was wonderful. The whole dream/delusion sequence had me rooting for Bette and Joan to become close friends. It was sweet and sad. They spent so much time getting each others goats, that they lost out on what could have been a grand friendship.
These were two actresses that I never personally liked, possibly because anything that I saw them in was later in life, and they had already lost their beauty. I believe they were good actress and I must look into watching some of their early performance, so I can truly appreciate what they brought to the screen.
The series ended up focusing on Joan and Lange owned it from then on. From 'And The Winner Is....' to the end she really embodiespd Joan Crawford. My only quip is Lange's voice is lighter and more sing-songy that Ms. Crawford's was. While good at her role as usual, Sarandon was just doing an imitation (albeit a very good one) of Davis. Lange had the harder role and she really pulled it off. She DEFINITELY looked like Crawford in her last years and finally made me forget Dunaway in her drag-camp splendor. Her best work since AHS: Coven.
All three actresses, Sarandon, Lange and Judy Davis were a tour de force. They are equal in my opinion and either would have excelled and transcended any scene and dialogue they were given. How ironic it would be if Lange, as Joan, won the Emmy and Sarandon, as Bette, was snubbed. Both deserve it but only one can win unless an unlikely tie. They could also cancel each other out, opening the door for someone else.

They should arrange a stunt were Sarandon accepts the award on behalf of one of the competing nominees just in case. Would bring the house down.

You're onto something. The Emmys always do a skit or skits at the beginning of the show spoofing plots of various nominated shows. Would be great to seem them out of makeup, talking to their agents about who will win. Lange in the shower and the Psycho shower scene, Sarandon raising a weapon in silhouette behind the curtain ... which turns out to be silver hairspray can.
Emmy nominations were announced July 13th, 2017. You guys are discussing the cast as if they've already been nominated and even which actors will win. You have inside information or is the entire award nominations rigged from the beginning?

I totally agree! I was going to re watch it, but I was tired of
One of the saddest things I have ever heard someone say: "I don't know who I am when I am by myself."-Joan Crawford
The Dean Martin look a like was very convincing.

Both ladies did great; especially the voices. But Lange really delivered the best performance I've seen in anything yet this year. I was moved.
