Item: Ozark

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: The following character names are incorrect. I fixed them once, but it seems that someone prefers the IMDb over the actual content of the TV show. This is incredibly annoying, malicious, and quite offensive. I spent a lot of time and effort to get all credits to order, fill in the blanks, and fix incorrect appearances, following the on-screen credits, in accordance with the rules. And someone just messing with the edits for no apparent reason. Things are just being reverted for some old values, which were most definitely imported from IMDb back in the day, judging from the spelling and a lot of uncredited actors.

Jim Rattelsdorf is actually R_E_ttelsdorf, with an 'E' and Javi Elizonndro is Elizo_N_dro with one 'N'. Both names can be checked using the official Netflix's subtitles in the same scene in ep. 4x06 around the 40-minute mark https://postimg.cc/gallery/5tS3KkP, if you can't hear how the names are pronounced. I'm sure both names were mentioned earlier in the show, but this is the place where you can check both at once.

Camila Elizonndro, obviously, also has one 'N'.

Tess Malis Kincaid as Petty's FBI Boss / SAC Clay - now this is just utter nonsense. She appeared in 11 episodes, and in each and every one of them she's credited as 'SAC Clay'. This 'Petty's FBI Boss' stuff is totally made up and exists only on IMDb. But even if she was credited differently in some episode, this still would be the same character, because SAC Hannah Clay is Petty's boss. And according to the Bible she should've been credited under the same name without any slashes etc.

Douglas Dickerman as Gene / Gene Pierce - this is direct violation of the Bible's rule "While the character name credited on-screen may vary from one episode to the next, it's important to always use the exact same spelling for character names." This is the same character, credited on-screen differently in two different episodes, so why it was changed from Gene Pierce to Gene / Gene Pierce?

Elizonndro is with two n's according to Tudum.

There's no direct link to the cast list but it's "R*attelsdorf" and not "Re*ttelsdorf" according to the cast list used in the show's SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the 29th SAG Awards - https://www.sagawards.org/awards/nominees-and-recipients/29th-annual-screen-actors-guild-awards?field_taxonomy_vocabulary_2_target_id=5

You are correct about Tess Malis Kincaid so her credit has been changed back.

Douglas Dickerman was credited first as Gene and then as Gene Pierce so the credits were merged because it's the same character.

That Guest Stars section of the Contribution Bible you link to does not it say you need to combine credits into a single character name for the same character; it just says to use the same spelling so as to not split the credit. Douglas Dickerman's credit of "Gene / Gene Pierce" uses the same spelling for both of his credited appearances so the credit isn't split.

What's more important - what is said on the website, not directly related to the show, or how's the character actually named in the show, on more than one occasion?

Same question as above. What has the higher precedence - a third-party website, or the show itself? To put it bluntly - I don't read articles, I don't visit websites. I watch the show, and this is how the character's name is spelled in the show. So why it should matter less?

Douglas Dickerman was credited first as Gene and then as Gene Pierce so the credits were merged because it's the same character.

So if he was credited in another episode as "Gene Jacob Pierce", you would've listed him as "Gene / Gene Pierce / Gene Jacob Pierce"?

This is exactly what that rule says. It even gives you examples. If character is already credited as "Gene" (or "Gene Pierce"), each new credit has to be with the same spelling. So in all subsequent episodes he should be credited as "Gene" (or "Gene Pierce"), not both. If the same character is spelled differently in different episodes, you should pick one spelling, and use it for all episodes where the character appears, not join all of the spellings into one clumsy construct. I'm pretty sure we already had this discussion, and it was already pointed out by another mod that your interpretation of that rule is incorrect https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/655739f053866e00ff07ebe3

I watched ep. 408 today, and here's the definitive proof that the name of the character in the show is Elizondro with one 'n' https://i.postimg.cc/Y9LGwRqT/ozark408.jpg
