I have watched all three series - and apart from a brief journey into the light - the scenes were so dark that you could barely make out the characters - this was not only true of night scenes but day scenes also. I resent the way they tried to make the good guys bad and vice versa. There are so many empowered females in this they could start a small army - and Marty seems to have one expression for every situation - a sort of patient hang dog look - one size fits all. The constant situations he found himself in were very contrived and got boring after a while. The pairing of a 68 year old woman and a 22 year old man I found distasteful and unnecessary - or was it just a nod to the empowerment of the older woman. We had the usual gay situation - where would we be without one - it is so fashionable these days - and so commonplace as to be boring in the extreme - series rely too heavily on same sex scenes these days - I guess they are easier to do than a good plot. This series was better than most - but could have been a whole lot better than that.

So, in your estimation, properly fully heterosexual displays with appropriately balanced and aged sexual partners would have made this series a "good" show or given it a good plot? Or it would have made it a whole lot better? The things you quibble with point so much more to your conceit and bigotry. "I don't like gay couples and don't like the May/December, male to female coupling THEREFORE the show is no good!" is exactly what you are saying. Yes, the show has many contrivances. Isn't that what we ask for in a long running TV series of ANY kind, anyway? Yes, some of the outcomes are INCREDIBLE but I forgive them primarily because up until now, I have been surprised. Essentially, that's enough for me. Keep surprising me with your plot twists and I will keep "suspending disbelief". I like the portrayal of powerful, resourceful women. I don't think there is an imbalance, Marty id crafty enough and the Mexican drug Kingpin is plenty powerful. I have a sneaky suspicion the show might not be liked by some because it presents an almost GUILTLESS American landscape. Everybody is on take, looking out for themselves. The darkness that is REALLY most threatening is a darkness that appears to spread the American heartland that know almost no end!
