I only watched a short time. Lots of sex that I really didn't want to see. Though it's somewhat historically accurate, I think these harlots were too beautiful and nicely dressed. They looked way to healthy for the times. IN My Opinion only.

I think it's good. There is a lot of sex, but the show is about prostitutes, so that should be a given. The characters are well written, and the plot points engaging. As with most period shows, the characters are better looking and cleaner than would be technically accurate. I cannot speak to the accuracy of the clothing, but the costumes themselves are gorgeous.

This show revolves around women, and the roles they were able to hold during the time period. In this respect, it is smart and largely accurate.

I read a book long time ago and the prostitutes hung around in pubs drinking gin, which they sucked through sugar leading to rotten teeth. The book was about how they were rounded up and sent to Australia with prisoners to settle. Good book...wish I could remember the name.
