Will you watch Season 2 to see if it gets any better?

I admit that the ending of S1 was a little underwhelming, but I enjoyed it and am intrigued in the story enough to keep watching.

I think I would, still curious eitherway, whether they explore more in depth the spiritual world storyline, or if they keep the ambiguity with the "it's all made up" storyline. But is a season 2 actually planned?

Yeah there's a teaser trailer out for season 2. I think it's supposed to come out later this year

Yes, I'll watch it. It wasn't great television but it's a good show to pass the a bit of time watching. And like you, I'm curious about the spirit world and also where Homer is, if he does indeed exist.

I liked the ending.

Yeah I will watch it. The first season was interesting enough, different enough, and absent enough of overt politicizing that I enjoyed it.

Season 2 is a giant leap in the right direction. More Twin Peaks than a repeat of S1. Highly recommended. We binged 1 to get to S2 and man, there's a big difference.

No. That interpretive dance thing destroyed it for me. A shame because I really liked it up till that point. It was a well made, indie film style tv show. But I wouldn't be able to take it seriously any more.

I had to laugh reading that. Yeah, it was weird. But the chick was already so weird that I let it ride.

But I am of two minds about the multi-dimensional thing. I wonder how many dimensions they are going to jump into. It makes the story a little too wide open. I guess OA will find some way to bridge the dimensions and get her friends to jump back home, or something.

It's not that it was weird. Or that she was weird. I have no problem with weird. I can't remember that well, it's been a while since I watched it, but the show expected us to swallow that flapping you're body about in a choreographed way would somehow unlock the mysteries of the universe. Or whatever it was supposed to do. It was ludicrous.

Having said that, after watching the trailer to season 2 it does look intriguing. I am tempted to try it. But I don't know if I can really get absorbed into it again now that it's credibility has flown out the window.

SPOILERS if you think you might watch it maybe you should not read this yet, though I have partly given it away already I guess.

Season 2 was more interesting to me than season 1 in some ways. There are different story lines with new characters, and later on you find out that after OA was shot at the end of season 1, she jumped into another version of herself in an alternate universe, a parallel dimension, or whatever. So there are different story lines in different dimensions which are connected to each other.
Season 1 seemed to spend so much time telling the story of the captives in that glass underground jail thing that it got a bit too dark at times.

Sure, the moves are stupid as hell. But there are moments when the show is fun to watch. Most people on Earth are stupid and they do meaningless religious rituals that they think will send them to a magic Heaven. We let them believe in that BS so we should allow The OA some room to be dopey as well.

I'm certainly no cheerleader for the old organized religion. But there is some cause and effect logic to the beliefs. Be good and you get rewarded, etc, etc.

The OA was just: shuffle your body a bit and it will break the rules of time and space. And the basic conceit of Season 1 is that you're supposed to be asking "Is this real or is she just crazy?"

And yeah, the show is otherwise well made. I just wish they'd chosen some other kind of plot device to usher in the mystical side.

I kinda see your point but I also don't. It's becoming increasingly clear to me that a large percentage of people in the United States are completely nuts. Yet, we treat them as normal people who simply need understanding. In most cases, they are in fact out of their gourd. Yes, The OA presents some weird stuff and then makes it seem that stuff is magical and the people who doubt it are the real idiots. But if you really think about it and go back and watch any show or movie about the supernatural, the skeptical and logic characters ALWAYS turn out to be the "wrong ones". Watch any freaky horror movie or any supernatural thriller or any heartwarming miracle movie and every time the weirdo is right and the scientific thinker is wrong. At least with The OA they talk about concepts and theories that physicists are entertaining as a possibility: other dimensions and the existence of a "multiverse." Some laws of physics are known to be real but at the same time, the math doesn't add up. Something mysterious is at play. For example: things at the quantum level. Some incredibly wacky shenanigans are going on there. Google and you will see. Also, things on the "regular" level like the force of gravity have aspects that baffle scientists. Also, what the hell is dark matter and dark energy?? That stuff makes up 95% of our known Universe! We don't understand it at all! So I can live with a little absurdity in this show. What's that old saying? Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Something like that. The OA has more good than not good, I think. It makes you ponder mysterious stuff in a different way.

All interesting. But the "supernatural" elements of the OA are not what I have a problem with. I like the metaphysical stuff and there is much in the show to praise. It's merely the method by which the metaphysical stuff comes in to play that's my issue.

Like, if I join an aerobics class tomorrow, is there a chance that if we do a specific routine that we'll all suddenly get zapped back in time? Or turn into elephants?

Many of these other supernatural shows or movies you refer to will have some sort of plot device or maguffin that triggers the supernatural element. And these devices will work within the context of the movie. A Delorean in Back to the Future, an angel in It's a Wonderful Life, etc.

The OA presents itself as very grounded right from the start. This is indie cinema as tv show. And there would be something that would be a believable trigger for it's cosmic side. But interpretive dance isn't it.

Interpretive dance isn't for you. You have made that clear. But at least it was original. Have you ever seen this sort of thing presented in a show or movie? Sometimes we get to a point that if there isn't an expected formula or outcome, we criticize. I get a little bored with same old crap over and over again. OK, the moves were ridiculous. I get it. But ultimately, so what? In The OA world, they work. Just like the Delorean with a magical flux capacitor works in that world. Furthermore, there are actually plenty of people who think the crazy moves are neato. Different strokes for different folks.
