El Presidente Bartlet recibe la visita de un grupo de norcoreanos, entre los cuales está un prestigioso pianista llamado Jai.

Mientras Jai (Tony Lee) está ofreciendo un concierto en la Casa Blanca, el Presidente decide sentarse junto a él para interpretar una pieza. En ese momento el pianista le hace llegar un mensaje en el que le informa su intención de huir de su país. A pesar de la apasionada argumentación que C.J. realiza a favor de la petición de asilo, queda también claro que concederla supondría bloquear las delicadísimas relaciones con Corea del Norte. Mientras, el equipo del Presidente propone como nuevo Vicepresidente al Congresista de Colorado Robert Russell (interpretado por Gary Cole).
