...seems like stunt casting, securing a big name for a prominent role even though he would appear to be completely united to the part. It's quite some years since I read the books but wasn't Lee quite clearly described as being old and grizzled? From what I recall Sam Elliot was perfectly cast in the so-so film - while I am usually prepared to give seemingly strange casting decisions the benefit of the doubt, Miranda as Scoresby seems way off the mark.
