Altered Carbon bediscussiëren

I imagine season 2 will feel a lot different. Hope it recaptures all that was great about season 1.

Sounds interesting. Hope we get to see the actor who played the original, Asian Kovacs again. I liked him.

Unfortunately it do not. Season two is very different, it feels like a whole different show, and I'm afraid Anthony Mackie couldn't fill out Joel Kinnaman's part as Kovacs. They ruined it imo, and maybe they already knew that, hence the only eight eps in season two, instead of the ten eps. in season one.

Really? I thought it was just as good as the first season. When you have a premise where people can switch bodies I think it makes sense to mix things up and not just do the same thing over again, plus it continued with the world building. If there's a season 3 I suspect they'll get a new actor in the lead sort of like Doctor Who.

I loved S1, and put off S2 until I thought I'd have time to watch it...just 14 minutes into S2E1 and I'm already completely disinterested. I get the body swap motif, but unfortunately, the new lead doesn't command the screen like Joel Kinnaman. Not only that, but even the "vibe" seems wrong and wonky. I can't quite put my finger on it, but really disappointing. I've tried watching it three times already...not sure I'm going to spend the time. What a bummer.

I half heartedly watched 4 episodes of season 2. I couldn't get into it, either. It felt totally different. I didn't feel that Anthony Mackie portrayed Kovacs as well as Joel Kinnaman or Byron Mann. He seemed like a totally different person. I wish he would have studied the role better and captured Kovacs.

I think in general, any such attempts are bound to fail.

I get the whole bodyswap idea, and it would've been fine if Anthony Mackie had captured the essence and soul of Joel Kinnaman's Kovacs, but he didn't. Even if it is two different people/sleeves that looks nothing like each other, you have as the viewer should have the same feel for the character, you should say " Wow, it IS Kovacs!" but you didn't - well at least I didn't - it not only looked like two different persons, it also felt like that. That's why I wrote it felt like two completely different shows, yeah shows with many similarities but still different.

Anthony should've studied Joel Kinnaman's way to portrait Kovacs a lot more, captured his way to move, his way to speak and his way to act.

It's been a while since I've seen the season but I do remember Mackie's speech patterns and pronunciations being distinctly Anthony Mackie so I get that gripe, but I was still able to enjoy the seasons overall despite that. Not as good as season 1 but still pretty good. At least for me.
