讨论 Norsemen

If you watched Lilyhammer you will recognize some of the same actors from that series. I spotted four of them in this show. If you liked them in the former show you will probably like them in this one as well.
I just finished watching the first season of Norsemen on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope the show is picked up for a second season.

They have already finished filming season 2, it will air on norwegian tv this fall. Don't know when it will be on Netflix.

I wasn't sure about it at first, but it grew on me. Now I like it a lot.

Maybe it's just me, maybe I don't get Norwegian humour but moral nihilism for the sake of comedy just doesn't do it for me. I get it, it's meant to be parody and the shock is meant for laughs but, for myself, it comes across as absurd and a bit crass.

Yeah, everyone has different tastes. In some ways it reminds me of some old Monty Python stuff, like that in the Search for The Holy Grail movie. And even though they often telegraphed what was coming (like the scene in the season finale where the guys are mooning those on shore, and they get flaming arrows in their asses) I still laughed. Much of this was 'old school' humor, pre-PC (as opposed to 'not-PC'). I thoroughly enjoy this show and hope it continues for quite a while.

Funniest thing I've seen in years. Agreed that it owes a lot to old Python, but Father Ted is also clearly an influence. The fulcrum of the humour seems to me to be the strange contrast of modern Scandinavian 'niceness' and the gruesome history of the people, the latter of which is romanticised in any number of modern dramas. Some of these dramas are unintentionally funny and ripe for ridicule.

For example, when the Chief tries to tell his brother it is not ok to hang around the village shitting log and does so in language that is so couched in modern workplace safe language, the vulgar and the clever are intertwined for hilarious effect.

Bingo. They do work that angle a lot and to great effect. This show is kind of spoofing Vikings and shows of that ilk. Some people don't go for that kind of humor, so this is not the show for them. But I usually like these comedies.

Season 3 is on Netflix in the US now. It seems to cover the period prior to season 1.

I think however I will write to Congress and have a law passed so that they have to make more than just 6 episodes per season. That is too short.
Too often, Congress wastes time on trivial and unimportant stuff, instead of paying attention to my whims and desires.
