SPOILER SPOILER
What's with the logic of Curtis? He knew that by releasing the senator he was jeopardising the girls life - but I guess he just wanted it to be over and go and have a lie-down !!

David was the only “Innocent” in all of this. Everyone else (including Amy) is in this mess by their own, deliberate, actions. Also, Curt has a very strong let-right-be-done streak; plus, his line of work shows that he is kindhearted and has empathy toward others.
I think that Curt let David go because “by any means necessary” just isn’t a part of his makeup when it comes to someone who has done no wrong and who is where he is through no fault of his own.
I think Frank also would have let him go--the difference being, he would have made good-use of him first.

I didn't mind Curtis letting the senator go - my point was that he knew by doing so he was risking the girls life - he could have least have waited for Frank to come back before making a unilateral decision. He knew Frank had no intention of killing the senator.
