Stumbled upon this, which talks about this.
From correlation to causation between suicide/smoking rates and broadcasts ?
From reaction to redaction, and redaction to reaction ?
Everything's in the tension of the "Young Adult" marketting oxymoron : adults, but young enough to get the patronizing stick ; or youngsters, but old enough to know what's good for them ?

Personally, I think this is wrong. Yes, the scene is graphic and disturbing, but that's the point. It's supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. I really don't think it's right to edit some people's artistic work because it makes some uncomfortable.

Ditto, + can't fathom how - all things being equal or getting worse - censorship ever solved structural problems (social violence, pressure to conform and to perform, lack of meaningfulness, communication, empathy, etc...). And even if we were to assume that "works of art" were a primary cause for people to end their life in a given society, imo that would still only reveal how much that society is already falling apart, with people weakened enough to mimic fiction. Beware though, one might be led to think we're biased with our user names :D
