Discuss Stranger Things

Item: Stranger Things

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Not a big deal, just noticed it when I was reading up on the show a bit more. Noticed seasons 2-4 are referred to as, for example, "Stranger Things 2" while season 1 is just referred to as "season 1." Just a consistency issue but I figured I'd give it an edit but it's locked so I thought I'd see if that was something worth fixing.

The first season was originally named "Season 1": https://web.archive.org/web/20170527031944/https://www.netflix.com/title/80057281

"Stranger Things" as a title is a later revision.

Does The Movie Database have a policy of always sticking to the original name? This currently looks pretty out of place to me, especially because Netflix no longer refers to it as "Season 1" — after all, they renamed it for a reason. Why not mirror whatever Netflix refers to it as?

Yes, we always stick to the original broadcast for all the data about the series.
