Discuti Marvel's Cloak & Dagger

Very impressive first 2 episodes. Great acting, writing and cinematography. The story unwinds slowly, but not in a boring way like with the Netflix shows, but rather in the way that builds up your anticipation. I think this could be the best thing Marvel TV has done to date, along with the Punisher.

Don't get me wrong, I love Cloak and Dagger, and have been a fan of the comics since the start (I own 5 copies of its original limited run), so I'm giving this show every chance. However, this show is a little too slow for a weekly show (at least with Netflix you can binge it). You should watch Freeform's other show Sirens, it's a lot tighter, many things happen in an hour, and the story progresses very quickly (they actually went through 2 whole story arcs in one season, Agents of Shield does this also every year). This feels like Marvel's Netflix and Hulu shows as far as pace, and it needs to get a bit faster if they want to retain a viewership. What worries me is that they only have 10 episodes, and it's feeling that they won't really get anywhere in the overall until episode 7 (like every other Marvel TV show so far), with all the episodes before being setup to it. Arcs in the Cloak and Dagger comics are usually only 5 issues.

The Netflix shows don't set anything up, they just have a lot of filler. Cloak and Dagger wasn't filler. If you can't tell the difference, then I don't know what to tell you. Jessica Jones kept catching Kilgrave and then letting him escape in stupid ways. That means that it took till episode nine to get to where they should have been at episode four. That is bad writing. The main villain of Luke Cage died half way through the series, which meant the whole first half built up to exactly nothing. Those are series that were really stretching the episodes to fill up a 13 episode season.

Cloak and Dagger is well written. The scenes had weight to them, and important character motivations were set up. They are also showing the origins of two superpowered characters, who have powers that are not that straightforward to introduce to the audience. A lot was covered in the first two episodes. If I'm not bored, it means the pace is fine.

Good exciting weekly series writing is in Sirens, by the end of episode one the characters are introduced and a clear goal of the arc was setup, by episode 5 they completed the goal. Episode 6 introduced a new goal, which was reached by episode 10. Some have already seen up to Episode 4 of Cloak and Dagger, and their reviews of the series up to the point still complain how much of a slow burn it's been. It's been 2 episodes already, can you tell me what the over arcing goal is yet? It better not be to get the 2 protagonists finally working together, that's like having a show called Runaways with no one running away till the final episode, oh wait Marvel did that.

I don't care about sirens. I haven't seen episode 4. I saw the first two, and they were great. I'll comment on episode 4 when I've seen it. Different reviewers have different opinions.

Importantly, crucially, we get believable and well-earned reasons - rooted in information revealed in those early, talkier episodes - for them to adopt the superheroic lifestyle, and devote themselves to justice, instead of revenge

Seems like this reviewer confirms my first impressions.

I'm excited for Cloak & Dagger because of the thing it's going to become, the dance the characters are beginning to choreograph around each other -- the anticipation and the narrative tension.

This one too.

There's absolutely no way I'm not going to watch every episode of Cloak and Dagger, I'm too big of a fan of the characters to not do that. However, the difference in what I will feel about the series is going to be specifically whether or not I regret not waiting till end of the series to binge it instead.

Thanks for your contribution.

This is one of the most boring shows I've ever watched. Nothing has happened for 6 episodes. It's pathetically slow.

It took seven episodes for to get there, but finally a great Cloak and Dagger episode (one they actually work together). It's really all I've really been waiting to see. Ad the preview next week, Cloak wears his umm...cloak.

Episode 8 was even better. This is now a show I can be excited about.

Episode 9 was more of a regression to the theme of the previous episodes, but it was a little more forgivable because it was intentional. After hearing from the show runner, who says Tyrone and Tandy just because who they are constantly make stupid decisions, I'm a little more understanding what the intention of the writers are for this show.

Very good show. I am only up to episode 6. I am hooked. I wish there were more episodes in this season

The final episode was okay (it's interesting to see the origins of Mayhem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayhem_(comics) ), but a sky beam...really? I don't understand Hollywood's fascination with sky beams.

It aired??? It didn't list it on my cable box. I have it on my watchlist and nothing whatsoever came up for this show. I don't understand it. Ofcourse this will be the episode they don't put on on demand.

You can still watch it on Hulu or the Freeform ap.

Not sure what there's to be excited about. A decent writer could've written this slow-moving show in 3 episodes and progressed it even further. It's like watching paint dry. Each episode just roams around doing much of nothing.
