What an interesting episode. I thought Erica's sister, Molly, and her brother may have been so sharp with her is because they were simply tired of dealing with her for so many years. They seemed to be burned out.

Since I'm the first one to post here I'll start off by saying and asking what almost everyone does when they see these shows: How was Erica able to have her own apartment and all of that food when she doesn't work? They don't give you that much in food stamps that you could buy as much food as she had in her house.

Also, I'm guessing she was much smaller when she applied for disability that she was able to go to doctors or disability attorneys or court hearings because on the show tonight she could barely get around, so my guess is she has been on disability for quite a few years.

Maybe looks are deceiving but her apartment was also very nice and not like it was in dangerous public housing. I did know of someone who was on SSI and they lived in subsidized housing full of crime and crack. She later managed to get into housing for the elderly and disabled which was much nicer, so that could be the type of place Erica was living in too.

I honestly don't know how people like this when they're on their own get the things they get, but for those with true family, their family and friends often enable them. That's the biggest part of the problem (aside from their psychological issues which got them to this point).

@Stand*Chickie: You apparently saw this episode from the beginning, but I came in at the middle part of this episode, and I can completely understand her reluctance to want to get weighed. She was terrified that she hadn't lost weight, but likely gained. I'm glad Doctor Now threatened to not continue being her doctor to get her motivated to go see the doctor who weighed her. I think it gave her some much needed confidence. I'm also glad she started seeing the therapist. I hope she continues with that. It can be very helpful, even if at the moment it doesn't feel like it.

My only real issue was with her siblings. They were so obnoxious and cruel to her. I don't know if they've been like that to her her whole life, but if they have been, that could also be a very big reason she hasn't been successful in weight loss. Why should she want to try to do anything when she has absolutely no support, and everything out of her siblings' mouths are cold-hearted and cruel, and they behave so incredibly selfishly and treat her so badly? They are so selfish. Especially where her sister is concerned. I wanted to constantly slap the witch!!! Those kinds of comments, and that kind of behavior often send the person on the receiving end spiraling backwards. They think they're helping but they're not. All it does is send a depressed person (which Erica clearly is) further into depression, and makes them wonder why they're bothering to do ANYTHING when they get nothing positive out of it because no one supports them, only criticizes them.

I've seen several of these shows. Most people really want the help and want to better themselves, but they just don't know HOW. Then there's the one or two I've seen who've just no clue about anything and are in such denial about their situation that there may not be any help for them. They want to put the blame on everyone else and take no responsibility for their situation and behavior. They're the infuriating ones to watch.

Mostly though, I enjoy watching the people's progress on this show and see how their lives start to change for the better, and how they see that even though it's really hard work, the results are worth it (and I don't just mean the physical results). They are truly happier, more healthy people.

I can't remember the girl's name, but she was a costume designer for a play house, and she was so young, and so overweight that her weight was impacting her ability to keep her job. But by the end of the episode, she was successful, and starting to lose weight, and was becoming more active, and was able to keep her job. I was so happy for her! She is my favorite of the people I've watched go through this.

Excerpt from Where Is Erica Wall From My 600-Lb Life Now?:

These days, Erica is living a quiet life and keeping to herself. She hasn't done any recent interviews, and she has almost no social media presence aside from her Facebook page. Her latest post was from December 21, 2020. Wherever she is, or whatever she's doing, here's hoping her journey is still going well.
