That is DEFINITELY not a good idea.

Although there might not be a crossover, there is speculation that some events in the new "Star Trek: Picard" series may have its beginnings in "Star Trek: Discovery":

Here's how Star Trek: Discovery might cross over with Picard series

Note:

Will Burnham travels through time lead to a possible encounter with Picard? Is the Temporal Prime Directive finally being enacted? What about Section 31?

I'm not getting a good feeling about this.

Well, they're are mostly rumours. relaxed

For more information on the new Picard show (e.g. casting, plot) you can go to my other post here.

Thanks.

it depend on how one does interpret the laws of physics .If alternate universes can exist the show still can take place in the OT even though events take place after the events of the kelvin timeline(where Spock disappears from the future). But i guess where going to have a high tech Love Boat interior with lots of holodecks and holographic communications(because it looks cool)

As much as I love Sir Patrick, I'm finding it hard to sustain any enthusiasm for the show. Maybe it's because of what's going on with the Bond 25 movie.

What is going on with Bond 25 Craig still plays Bond or is it because you are disappointed that Idris Elba wasn't chosen for the part? Or are you afraid that Bond gets castrated by gender, race, sexuality and political correctness, gone too far, like so many white male protagonist of other rebooted franchises.

What's bothering me about Bond 25 is (in no particular order):

1) It's taking so damn long to make! 5 years between Bond movies is usually not a good sign. The movie was supposed to have been released this year, then on Valentine's Day 2020 (WTF?), and now slated for summer 2020.

2) They changed directors. First it was going to be Danny Boyle directing, but he left/was fired. Now it's Cary Fukunaga .

3) The name of the movie. First they announced that it would be called Shatterhand (and no I am not making that up). Now it's back to Bond 25. Again, WTF?

4) The "press conference". Usually right before production starts on the movie, the producers will hold a big press conference that ALL of the main cast attends. Not this time. The movie's producers did a YouTube podcast from Ian Fleming's home in Jamaica.

5) Daniel Craig looks like he's trying to escape from the set. Despite what he tells interviewers, Craig looks miserable. Perhaps the producers should have tried to get Idris Elba after all.

6) People keep resurrecting the "female Bond" issue. My opinion on this subject hasn't changed. James Bond should not (literally) be turned into a female! That is just a dumb idea.

All in all, for the first time in my life I am not looking to seeing a Bond movie, and that is worrying me. Thanks for letting me vent on this extremely long OT post. I do appreciate it.

Feel free to point out what's bothering in posts as long as you like I will be the last to comment on length of a post since I have done quite some lengthy posts myself

I heard a podcast a while back pointing out that the main money from the Bond franchise especially overseas, is not the movies but the other advertising. They mentioned that Playboy International, for example, gets a lot of money just for licensing the "bunny" symbol etc in Asia. So they're very particular about how the cast members can be used for other advertising. And the fact is that much of the world is extremely racist, and people in Asia etc will not buy a car or watch or phone or whiskey etc advertised by a black - or female - James (Jamie?) Bond.

But they don't mind a white male Bond? Or is it every race/ethnic minority wanting their own white, black, yellow, brown, red, etc Bond? And we've even not started about gender, there are so many versions now... rolling_eyes

I hope Ian Fleming, wherever he is, is enjoying his bottle of Gin and having a good laugh at all this.

A white Bond doesn't seem to be a problem. But remember he's British, not American.

Also if one looks at most intelligence services one will notice black spies in the minority,my opinion is stick to the source .Was Bond written as a black ganja smoking spy ?No he was written as a womanizing martini swallowing white guy sure he was written in a time where male masculinity was the norm and even though a lot has changed (the head of MI 6 is female nowadays) Bond itself with all his misogynist stereotypes became a trademark in itself like Coke and MacDonalds when people go to see these movies they expect certain things just like ordering a Big Mac so I can understand the reluctance from investors to change the formula too much.

Miss Moneypenny has already changed, so why not Bond?
