Discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation

She and I had exchanged e-mail addresses before IMDB shut down. I was helping her sort out her late father's action figure collection. I e-mailed her last week because she hadn't posted on IMDB for a while. I wanted to make sure she knew where we had all moved to. I just got a reply from her roommate. Two Sundays ago, she became very sick and collapsed. They rushed her to the hospital, but she died!! Her appendix ruptured. All that poison in her body just snuffed her out. I'm so upset I'm nauseated. She was such a sweet person. She said the members of her band are just devastated. Her real name was Tara Jo. Her friends called her "TJ". OMG!! She's gone!! Why does the world have to suck so damned bad at times?

Damn, that's really horrible. I didn't really have much contact with her, but I knew she had been posting a lot on the Trek boards. She seemed pretty young, although I didn't really know her age.

That's horrible to hear.

@Jetfire59: I just wanted to let everyone know that a couple of weeks ago that some flowers were put on the altar in her memory at my church, Saint Edmonds Episcopal Church.

OMG I just read about it I didn't know that she had died this really knocks me off my socks I will always treasure our chats in private on the IMDB Trek boards ,She was always funny, warm, friendly and witty. I will miss her very much it kinda seems so unfair so young and all the tragedy she already went through that she deserved something better in life than this... So sad :-(

@Nexus71 : Yes, Rockerchick's passing was very sad. I really didn't post with her a lot, but she was very sweet. The one thing I remember clearly was her reaction to a thread on the ST:TOS board.

The question asked was, "If you could travel back in time, where would you go?" My choice was to travel back to 2011 so I could talk Daniel Craig into marrying me instead of Rachael Weisz. She got such a big kick out of that!

I remember that she owned a classic car and talking about that and talking about the collection of action figures and other collectables that Jetfire spoke of.I remember advising that she should take very good care of them because they could be worth a pretty penny if they were in mint condition or in the box.But I also figured since they were left by her late father (her parents died in a car crash) they would posses considerable emotional value. Also remembered she told she got a bruised eye because of some hecklers when performing with her band (and talking about the music they played). She seemed so full of life that hearing about her death and it's cause(a ruptured appendix) seems so unreal and unfair that if there is a God he must have some sick sense of justice. Also remembered now that she was a DJ and had her own radio show.Damn sometimes life can be ugly as hell....

@Nexus71 : You are so right. Someone who writes on this board (I can't remember who), thought that it was strange that she didn't go to a doctor sooner.

My theory is she may have no health insurance, and even though hospitals, by Federal Law, cannot refuse to treat anyone who comes in, she may have thought that even if she went, she didn't have money to pay for a prescription.

My reason for proposing this theory is back in October 2004, I got a UTI. I was jobless, had no insurance, and no money to pay for a prescription. So I thought that I'd just drink a lot of Cranberry juice. Three days later I collapsed and when I was taken to a hospital and went into a ten day coma due to kidney failure.

It breaks my heart that Rockerchick must have been in such pain before she died. I'm sorry but I need to conclude this post because I'm crying too much. Talk to you later

@Maria Kelly I sure do hope that health insurance wasn't a factor in the cause of her death ,that would make it even worse if she had only lived here in Holland she would have at least have some health insurance(thank God for the welfare state we have here in many EU countries) and she would probably have lived that would be the ultimate irony. We over here across the pond really don't understand why you Americans object to a collective health insurance so much because it is often cheaper and will allow the vast majority of the population access to decent health care for affordable and regulated costs.Maybe if that was the case with Rockerchick then it should serve as an example why there is need for such a thing.Yeah I understand your emotions I shed some tears when I read about her death as well ,she was the kind of person that made an impression even though she had been posting on the Trek boards only for the last couple of months . ;-( talk to you later.
