Does't feel the same as the first 2 seasons.

I have loved season 3. It has been slow in a few spots, but when the episode is over I am wanting more and can't believe how quick the hour has gone by. The writers keep surprising me. The story line progresses and ties together. I would love to see more of Josh and Fen, but I understand they only have so much time to devote to everyone. I haven't read the books and I try to not work too hard on figuring out where the story is going. I am trying to just enjoy the ride.

Margo.

I'm just going to leave this here.

Margo is a badass, as Penny says "she gets shit done"

I am also liking Eliots development as a character

thank god Quentin is less annoying

I am enjoying season 3 better than the first 2 for both of these reasons...and Penny being dead/stuck in the astral plain -which was not only rofl but made his attitude less mean. Season 3 is funnier and I like the plot/story line of the keys better.

I am completely loving this season! There have really been some standout episodes. It still has the comedy aspect from time to time, but I think overall it has been a bit darker than the first two seasons. I'm really happy it was renewed for a 4th season!

I loved this season, I liked it better than the first 2. I just watched the final and am already hanging out for season 4!

I loved the season, but not the finale. I think it was poorly done and did not get me excited for next season. Don't get me wrong, I will still watch the show cuz I love the characters, actors, etc. It almost felt like a cope out and they are just repeating the season 2 finale. I have to go back and re-watch it a few times, but I am not looking forward to it because it was a bit of a disappointment. I wasn't looking for a neatly finished happy ending. I expected surprises, cliffhangers and all that. Again, this is my initial reaction to watching it Wednesday. Hopefully it will soften in time.

Think of it this way. They have to find their way back to each other because the fate of the world rests upon their shoulders. The only one who can help them is locked away in the library, and if she manages to get out, she not only has to face the Monster, she has the almost impossible task to bring the unwitting team together again. Now that's a great season 😊

I agree that the finale is a bit disappointing, it feels like there are few episodes missing to end the season better. But I don't think it doesn't get me excited for the next season, I like the show and I will keep watching. There are enough mysteries that were thrown in the air and we need closures. Like how they will solve Penny 23 vs Penny 40 issue, there is also his possible love triangle with Kady and Julia, the Library controlling magic has great potential for resistance movement of oppressed magicians, Josh should have a bigger part, there are a lot of characters with their fate unclear that can return back, and is it only me but I am psyched to see return of Marina? I was really annoyed that they killed her before, now that she jumped timelines I would really like to see more of her. Maybe team up with Margo, that could be fun.

I thought this was a most excellent season, loved the multiple plots bursting in ever other scene it seems. Compelling character/story development , mega props to the writers here for keeping everything fresh.

I wasn't to keen for the finale, mostly because I perceived the characters developed more trust in their group decision making process and expected them to act accordingly.

Anyways thanks for this most excellent show that's so rich fans can enjoy repeated viewings and still find Easter eggs of a sort. Looking forward to next season.

I too thought it was a great season, and I too thought the finale was a bit of a let down. The writers really went overboard with the negativity. They killed the fairy queen, unleashed a monster, turned Fogg in to a villain, took Julia's powers, blanked everyone's memories, put the monster in Eliot, locked up Alice, and gave control of magic to the Library. It completely wiped out all the success the team had in their season-long epic quest. Made it feel like a waste of time. That finale was just a kick in the nads to all the previous episodes.

Which is par for the course for the Magicians. (Spoilers below)

- Season 1, they face of against the beast but just as they were about to defeat him was betrayed by Julia.
- Season 2, they manage to deal with the Beast, Reynard and Ember, but caused magic to be taken from the world.
- Season 3, they brought back magic to the world, but were betrayed by Alice who ended up giving control of it to the Library and let loose the monster.

I thought S3 was the best so far. Every ep from "Six Short Stories About Magic" onwards got a score of 8 or higher from me. The ending was a bit of a downer, but they have another season, so at least it will all get worked out (probably in time for another cliffhanger).

I’ve really liked the show pretty consistently from the beginning. Quentin and Julia kind of annoyed me for a while but the other characters and storylines, world building etc. overcame them easily. When Julia lost her shade I was like “finally, I can stand her!” Luckily she was a lot better when she got it back vs before she lost it. Even though Quentin has history with Alice I was surprised they kept her involved at the end of S3 when she obviously had her own agenda and it was plain as day she would fuck their plans. They even knew she was holding back on them. Eliot and Margo are the standouts for me. The episode where Eliot and Quentin grow old together was very cool. Ive only watched it on Netflix and Amazon. Does all the cursing make it into the SyFy broadcast?
