暗流涌动与京都之下，看似平静的深夜却被隐藏于黑暗中的火罗所掌控，此时能肩负一方平安的唯有阴阳师和驾驭了至高铠甲“黄金骑士牙狼”的魔界骑士。京城内最高明的雕佛师纯庆执着于雕出拥有生命的佛像，他的这份执念被寄宿在仁王雕像中的火罗阎刚所利用，被阎刚附身的纯庆开始被迫把美丽的女子变成菩萨，但都是只完成了一半的作品。调查暴走仁王雕像的雷吼一行开始了行动。

出现在眼前的敌人芦屋道满并不是火罗，明白对方底细的星明却不愿和雷吼提到此人。被东之监视所召唤的雷吼和星明接到了一个特殊的任务，作为魔界骑士见习生的葛城久赖特地指名成为雷吼的弟子，而星明却对此非常疑惑，她特地找到和泉式部了解久赖的过去。当天晚上想要偷刀的久赖和雷吼对峙，他认为雷吼便是自己的杀父仇人。

安倍家的晴明感受到道长奢华的新宅邸里有股不寻常的气息，仔细搜查后发现了大量诅咒道长的道具，为了查明真凶道长下令抓捕京城中所有的阴阳师，已经成为魔戒法师的星明也被抓住。这次的事件是道长自导自演的一出好戏，他想要借此除掉自己的政敌，而制作这些诅咒的芦屋道满主动被抓，他准备在京城中放出火罗。

听到火罗锁定贵族的消息后雷吼开始巡逻，等他赶到时大判御行大人还是惨死，在场的赫夜在京城中广为流传，她被称为被诅咒的公主。美丽的赫夜吸引来了很多贵族的求婚，但她的求婚者们却都落得惨死的下场，随身携带的宝物也随之消失，星明怀疑赫夜便是火罗，为了验证星明的说法雷吼和金时前去一探究竟。

准备回家的雷吼遭到了歹徒的袭击，赶来的检非违使保辅逮捕了歹徒，辅助保辅追捕歹徒的是无罪放免的小袖。京城里经常会出现走投无路的穷人，为了活下去他们只能选择偷盗，而曾经的小袖也在其中，逮捕了小袖的保辅并没有和其他人一样唾弃她的罪行，接触之后他发现自己深深爱上了小袖，但保辅显赫的家世却成为了这段爱情最大的阻碍。

芦屋道满解开了古代的封印，传说中的火罗“津真天”曾经逼得帝王迁都，它的出现无疑会造成无法预计的灾厄。为了病重的母亲，幼小的五兵卫不惜四处偷窃，他还打算加入保辅所组建的盗贼团伙，看到这些的星明等人用自己的方法帮助五兵卫，五兵卫的母亲不想抛下年幼的孩子，她对生的执念引起了芦屋道满的注意。

安倍家招待贵宾的时候突然遭到了火罗的攻击，而这个火罗竟然叫着星明原本的名字。安倍家的晴明召唤自己的孙女星明，因为这次事件的火罗正是星明的母亲，明白了这些的星明决定独自去解决这次的事件，雷吼在知道了这件事后非常担心星明，他来到安倍家询问了有关星明母亲的事情，知道了事情真相后他决定前去帮助星明。

正当金时和星明斗嘴的时候雷吼赶了回来，新的火罗出现了，能够吞噬光明的火罗让雷吼陷入了苦战，连同盔甲上的光芒也快消失殆尽。拼尽力量打倒火罗的雷吼晕了过去，当他醒来后却性情大变，性格变得极其恶劣的雷吼让金时非常担忧。星明了解到雷吼的变化和盔甲上的黑暗残渣有关，星明为了解救雷吼决定去找她的师傅，上一代的芦屋道满。

慈法即将圆寂的时候遇到了芦屋道满，慈法一心想用佛法矫正毫无慈悲的世间，但光宫里的阴阳师却取代了佛法，心生怨念的慈法在最后一刻化身成为了火罗。发现火罗的雷吼和金时追了上去，但雷吼却被火罗的力量变小，这让星明想起了之前发现的沾满唾液的小衣服，恐怕被变小的阴阳师全成了火罗的食物。

保辅的部下在抢劫贵族的时候遭到了火罗的袭击，听到有奇怪蹴鞠出现后保辅便有了线索。跟着奇怪的身影保辅来到了一座宅邸，之前的好友成通出现了，在蹴鞠选拔上被保辅盖过风头的成通怀恨在心，现在的他已经化身成为火罗，雷吼赶来后火罗暂时撤退，但保辅已经有了自保的能力，他也早已成为魔界骑士。

The Raise Gate's construction is coming to an end, but there are shadows moving about in the darkness. Raikou broods over the words left by the knight Zanga as he urges Seimei to remove the seal she placed on him. Seimei must make a choice.

Abandoned by Raikou, Seimei moves forward to hunt Ashiya Douman down herself. The darkness grows within her as she heads to the Light Palace. At the same time, Raikou seethes with anger, blaming both himself and Seimei for the deaths of the innocent.

Though Raikou has gained the power to don the Golden Armor himself, he is unable to move forward whole heartedly with Seimei missing. The Light Palace is quickly recovering from the Horror attack, but now aristocrat girls have begun disappearing.

No matter what era, there are always problems between husband and wife. Especially when that husband is a man like Masamune, who is well-known for his cheating ways. Izumi Shikibu tries to help her friend and enlists the help of Raikou and Kintoki.

Two brothers who fight for what they believe is right in two completely different ways decide to team up. Yasusuke finds out that perhaps his older brother, Yasumasa, is not the weak man hungry for social power that he once believed him to be.

Seimei chases after Douma in hopes of finding a way to eliminate the darkness eating away at her. Haruaki finds Seimei and realizes quickly that something must be done. Her time is running out and something inside her wants to take control.

Seimei's body has been taken over by the darkness and Rudra runs rampant in the city in search of the Golden Knight. Various people close to Raikou get hurt in the process. Will Raikou raise his sword against Seimei once he sees what she has become?

Raikou realizes that Seimei is the vessel that the Watchdog Center ordered him to destroy. And though Kaguya is the key to the seal of the Crimson Moon, she is currently powerless. Torn between his duty and his emotions, Raikou slowly loses hope.

Inari gives Hakamadare a glowing ball which has a Madou fire sealed within it. Meanwhile, Raikou receives news that Seimei killed Yasumasa and he tries to stop Hakamadare from attacking Seimei.

Hakamadare tries to kill Seimei, but Raikou stops him, so he withdraws, but asserts that Raikou must take responsibility for the consequences. Haruaki prepares a trap so that when Seimei chases Raikou, Kaguya binds Seimei so that Raikou can reach her heart. Raikou finds himself in a wilderness and reaches Seimei, but he is attacked by the female form of Rudra. Outside, Douman arrives to stop the process, but is attacked by Kintoki who distracts him long enough for Raikou and Seimei to exorcise Rudra from within Seimei. Inari then appears and deals with Douman. Later, Haruaki succumbs and collapses to the effort he expended in rescuing Seimei and sealing Rudra within himself. Seimei then has to ask Raikou to destroy her grandfather Haruaki, to finally defeat Rudra. Meanwhile, Douman is still alive.

Douman regains consciousness as Raikou and Seimei move to eliminate Rudra. Before they do, Douman steals Haruaki's body and awakens Rudra using his own darkness. As hell breaks loose, Yorinobu discovers what kind of person Michinaga truly is.

With the book of magic, Onmyouryo, Kaguya prepares to cast the spell to seal Rudra while Seimei, Kintoki and the Gold and Silver knights physically attack the monster. Rudra begins absorbing the souls of people in the capital to increase its strength. They realize that Rudra is more powerful than before because of Douman’s influence and Raikou is sucked into its internal darkness. However he manages to bring the light of the Golden Knight into the darkness and enable Kaguya to seal Rudra and remove the Crimson Moon. In the aftermath, Douman reappears and attacks Raikou again but is defeated, and Seimei releases his soul, freeing him of the darkness that controlled him.
