Spoilers weaved into the text read at your own risk though its just about the 14 first minutes of this first episode:
Im 14min into first episode and Im wondering what happened to the The Expanse I remember??? I mean Chrisjen Avasarala always was played by a horrible actress who always spoke english like a middle eastern terrorist thats no news. Its also no news that that shes an unauthentic actress on top because no one would ever elect a leader who botoxed their lips, its just that simple, it would never ever happen. But it seems like they got new writers or something, maybe just Bezos “spilled” a little on it? I havent checked but Ill bet they have one or several new writers for this season, because now Chrisjen Avasarala is just running around cowboy style burping out quotes like "Youre gonna do what I goddamn tell you to do!" when spoken to with reason, and "Who gives a FOCK!" as soon as someone mentions the first intellectual thing since the episode started. What am I actually watching here? Is it still The Expanse? Dammit weve been waiting for this for over a year now and this is what we get? Either they got new writers or amazon decided to interfere in the making of this show, which I actually find even more plausible than new writers cause even new writers wouldve been kept away by the old ones from stepping in with this wannabe cowboy excrement. So its settled amazon scewed it up with their greedy tiny bezos fingers that are just unable to keep their autism in for 5min and let something good just be good... Ooops scratch that I watched another minute and that botox degenerate managed to throw up some more horrifically mentally challenged poo: "I didnt bring you here to teach me mythology. […] For a few hundred years we thought Phobe was just a ball of ice orbiting Saturn.". No just no you person with an IQ below 40, Phobe orbits Mars... I dont know where the fault in this X syndrome script lays, but its most definitely some new writers or just Bezos' disgusting spilling-fluid, Ill bet the writer of the books themselves, James S. A. Corey, did not make a mistake like that! I dont even know how to prepare myself for more of this excrement now, this is not the The Expanse I remember. Thank you amazon, for whatever you and your CEO that resembles a female toy did to make this happen! Now please end it, you and your merry money sniffers over at disney...

All of the writers are the same, and the authors of the books are also involved. Additionally, the changes you are seeing are the result of the series shifting to be more in line with the books, now that there are less restrictions on the show (now that it's free of network policies.)

Thank you for the reply. Im sorry to say but this whole S4 had that feeling of battlestar galactica an all that useless AMC/CW/Showtime shit that usually takes place on a dark set to make it as cheap as possible. The entire season takes place on a gravel dump... I never got the feeling that theyre on another planet, just that they were chilling at some gravel dump somewhere on earth. The same feeling one has when watching the AMC/CW/Showtime generic sci-fi shit. I wonder what changed. If the case is that Chrisjen was in fact always like that but they couldnt depict her so because of network policies, then thats a damn shame. But honestly I liked her better with network policies. Nothing about the person they are depicting now gives me vibes of an experienced politician, rather I get a Trump vibe from her for lack of better words.

Actually it did feel quite a bit like another planet, but I wish they'd had enough of a budget to show off some of the weird life that is found in the book. I also cannot help but completely disagree re: the BSG comparison. BSG was constrived beyond words, and got REALLY old very quickly. As for Avasarala, if you think her cursing a lot somehow makes her less of a politician, I again suggest you read the book, because I think you're missing some very important aspects of her character, and why she is the way she is.

I'm rewatching the entire show and I have to say I love this show, even more now than I did when it first aired. Getting to watch each episode in a row while knowing where the characters and story goes has allowed me to pick up on things I either missed or didn't understand the first time.
I've started reading Babylon's Ashes just out of morbid curiosity and so far the feel of the book is notably different from the feel of the show, but that's to be expected, it's almost impossible to bring a sci-fi book to life on a TV budget. The physical look of the Belters would be impossible to do without gobs of money. The actors also bring a lot to the show, especially Wes Chatham as Amos who I initially didn't care for but now he's my favorite character.
