Cat did have some good zingers last night, but overall the episode was ridiculous. Is this really what Supergirl has come to...dealing with a psycho crazed mother who knows how to turn Superman? I've defended this show every moment of the way, but for the first time, I considered shutting it off last night. The season finale better be darn good, without a cheap cliffhanger.
Don't miss her, she can stay one or two episodes but that's it, she still talks to the air like no ones around, not as humble as Lois, and they both came from nothing

Yes! I agree. I have defended this show too but it is getting ridiculous. The President (who's an Alien) flies Air Force One directly at an armada of invading warships and gets a bunch of service members killed for NO REASON WHATSOEVER! I hope she gives medals to those pilots who died for her stupidity. And Supergirl has saved the hostages but decides to stay behind to talk to the evil queen, knowing that her sister won't fire on the ship and thus putting the entire world in more jeopardy. Do you think she will ever mention that it was a mistake?
And don't even get me started on Cat's absurd pep talk speech.
If Rhea can brainwash Superman why hasn't she brainwashed Supergirl? Also, I don't like how they have used Superman in this episode. It reminds me of last season where it was told that Supergirl was faster than him etc.
Also, Lena and Cat have not figured out that Kara is Supergirl but Maggie did?
I have always felt that with Superman, Supergirl and even with Wonder Woman maybe if they each had wore an amulet that when worn they look different or the glasses.
Love the show but this episode had problems with it.
The Mon-El character is almost single-handedly ruining the show. Because of him Terri Hatcher murdered her husband and is continuing a reign of terror, all just to secure Mon-El. All of the time, self-respect, and dignity Supergirl has thrown right out the window chasing after this milquetoast dweeb has watered down her girl power image and made her a desperate damsel in distress, willing to risk life and goodwill with her peers just to chase after this boy whose last girlfriend he willingly left to die in a fire.
All the interaction with Suerpgirl and her sister is now nonexistent, there's no backstory being provided about Supergirl (her lonely trip to the Fortress of Solitude where she becomes Supergirl), the whole gay thing is just to check off a box and isn't being developed at all, James and his sidekick are without purpose and trying to figure out how to fit in, etc.
If you remove Mon-El, about around 98% of all that is wrong with the show goes away. He should have never been made into a lead character. It's now the Mon-El show with some Kara (and even less Supergirl) thrown in..

Damn, you nailed this perfectly! Concerning your last paragraph, I have high hopes Mon-El bites the dust next week. The producers said we will need Kleenex for the finale. If it's Mon-El, I'll be singing and dancing.
LOL, they will probably kill off one of the side characters, like Winn or James and if they do get rid of Mon-El, they will just make him King and have him take his people back to Daxson. I really don't see anything shattering from the finale,
I agree Mon-EL is not much an addition and I would have loved to have seen more of James and Johnn. Also, I miss Kara and Alex's sisterly bonding moments and I especially missed Cat Grant and Maxwell Lord.
No kidding. What's up with that? Max Lord, too. Do they have different show runners this season or are they just trying to drive this show into the ground?
Or maybe it's because I'm a 46-year-old fogie and this show has a younger demographic that I'm not catching on to.

Agree. Even taking into consideration it's a comic book. Well, so is Marvel. Marvel productions seem much tighter in regards to plot and character. The President flying Air Force One directly to the invading ships just defied all logic, particularly since she's an alien herself and knows better. I have not been this teed at writers in a long time. What is your audience? 3 years old? And Cat just HAPPENS to be there because she plot-contrivance knew the prez in high school (or was it college) and SAW her as an alien, ignoring it because she was on mushrooms?! And now she's on Air Force because, let's see here, hmmm. She was meeting with the Dalai Lama. Yeah! That's the ticket! And Cat's character morphed into something else. A pompous naive fool so the writers can give her some snappy lines and turn her into a superhero.
Nice how long it took her to thank Supergirl for saving her life.
And the particle beam canon. She can't fire it anyway because Supergirl is on the ship? Wouldn't Supergirl be able to survive the explosion? But noooo! And why does Supergirl wait on the ship after boyfriend and girl friend are safely beamed down? And could not Supergirl destroy the ship anyway from within?
I agree with what everyone said. We're all in agreement that the whole Mon-El thing has gone way too far and done damage to the show's brand.
The funny thing is I didn't realize that I liked the show until this season. Because then it started making me want to see the things that made season 1 a lot better. The focus was on Supergirl (and thus Melissa who is the entire reason I'm even watching the show), her interactions, and her evolvement. It was a lot more warm and fun, and it all flowed a lot better.
This whole season has been cold and dark and depressing. I hope next season is totally different.

I don't see Man-EL's purpose. It should be more than being Kara/Supergirl's love interest.
