You want to impress me with Alex's and Maggie's relationship, then give Maggie some backstory, and don't let her be the typical, one note token gay chick.

I was excited for the gay story line but it's getting very boring. We need some maggie history. She's very one dimensional.

These story lines are extremely boring because many of the gay characters don't grow as human beings on the screen. Token characters--in general--don't grow, and that's indicative of myopic writing. I'm not gay, but I love a good story, a story where the characters--even the evil ones--are multidimensional. The reason Maggie is boring is because she's used for propaganda more than entertainment; therefore, we're not getting a character with depth. The gay story line is a propitious one where we don't see any controversy in the relationship. The gay characters never have a conflict of interest and fudge the lines between gay and straight. They seem to be all gay with absolutely no interest in a man whatsoever. Sexuality is a complex topic, and it isn't always black and white. I'm not even sure what qualifies as being gay. I'll give you an example. I knew a soldier who was about to get married, and we all came to his wedding, but we had lost one of the soldiers out of our squad a week earlier. We were all bothered by this soldier's death, but the soldier about to get married was really messed up over it. His momma told him that people die, and it's time for him to move on, and marry his girl. He broke it to us that he had a relationship with the other soldier that went beyond the parameters of what we call straight. He said that it was the only time that he ever felt that way about another man, and that he was straight. His momma went ballistic on him because she wanted him to get his head on straight before he messed up his fiance's life, but they've been married over ten years now. Now, I don't think Supergirl could ever delve that deep into the topic, but television--in general--could. The only thing I want the writers to do on Supergirl is to move past the token gay chick, and bring her into the action.

Wow. I don't even know where to start. The character is flawed/boring because she has no back story. Just the gay. I don't think they introduced the character to be cutting edge and definitely not for propaganda purposes. Maggie is a character from the comics and is gay in the comics. What this has to do with your soldier friend is anyone's guess? And yes people can be just gay as they can be just straight.

I was just giving an example of how dynamic relationships can be. Sorry about that. I'm just saying she needs more backstory beyond just the gay story.

In my opinion, the moment that the producers decided to pair off Alex and Maggie was their big mistake, not because it's a gay storyline, but because there's no confrontation in it, no obstacles they face. In my opinion, they should have at least made a love triangle between Maggie, her then girlfriend and Alex. And expand it from there. It's a cliche, but at least it would have imparted some sort of importance on Maggy's character and let her do something and not just be there as a love interest, who has nothing other to do. Hell, we barely see her even being a cop, and if in those rare times she is a cop, Alex swoops in and takes everything to her control...

I would have liked that story. It's just so bland. I wanted to like it so much. Hopefully it gets better. I really want supergirl to be around for a while.

It looks like Maggy in the comics used Steel as a resource. I think there's room for a Maggy and Guardian professional relationship.
