I've read many, many people talk about how flawed this show has been in its first two seasons. Let's get constructive. What does the show need to improve?

To be honest, I enjoyed season 2 of FTWD quite a lot, it was much better than any of TWD season 4-7.
I actually feel that the writers of Fear actually put some effort into making their episodes be about something, other than pointless wandering.
How would I improve the show?
I quite like the directing on this show compared to TWD, some of the scenery and shots are quite beautiful, however, I have noticed that sometimes the show does shy away from the gore from time to time, making the editing very choppy, so I'd like for them to fix that.
I'd like them to maintain the family aspect of the story, I like the brother/sister/mother dynamic, I'd like to see them all come together again and see them live out the apocalypse together, rather than separating them or killing them off for shock value.
I know season 3 appears to be human vs human, but I think the zombies should remain as the main threat on this show. I know that is unlikely, but I'd prefer if the characters weren't all sufficient in walker slaying.
Bring some horror to the show, not just the blood and gore kind, but maybe have some genuinely creepy moments, like maybe introduce a paedophile character, someone who is not necessarily a mass murderer, but someone who is just really unsettling to be around. Maybe he like trades supplies for sex?
Keep the personality of the characters intact and distinct. I think so far the characters are quite different from one another and seem like individuals. Keep the group small and keep working on these core characters. The one thing I hate about TWD is too many "characters" that are just bystanders.
Do not turn the show into a comic book show, keep it as it is, I think the tone of FTWD is pretty solid, I don't want them to turn it into TWD with all these ridiculous comic book additions. There are some things that just don't translate well on screen.
All in all, I have very few problems with the show, I don't think it's great or anything, but good enough for me to watch and enjoy.

Thank you for replying! I have an overall positive response to the show like you do, but can be startled by the amount of negative posts that flood the boards about it.
Regarding your comment up above, I agree. The show feels like the world hasn't been over for a very long time, as opposed to "The Walking Dead." Hence, the characters don't just roam from place to place, looking for ways to survive in it.

Yeah, I am surprised with the drop in quality in TWD that FTWD isn't better received, so far I think they have done a pretty good job in making the show its own thing, rather than constantly relying on TWD characters like most spin-offs do.

Show Madison gradually evolving into a "bad guy"....Negan/Gov. type character. We already have a show focused on a group of good guys.

They've already done one thing that I felt should be implemented: improve the gore on the show. Last night's episode was chock-full of rupturing heads and mangled body parts, bravo!!
The funniest thing was the guy at the vent when the rats jumped out, and then the walker grabbed him, bit part of his face off, and yanked him into the vent like a rag doll. Cliff Curtis pointed out on Talking Dead that they took that stunt from A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Everything they did in the first two episodes of season 3. I really liked the back half of season 2 but it was still meh. Though this season is showing tons of promise. I am actually excited for Sunday! Of course Daniel! He is my favorite! It looks like in the promo for next week we see the back of his head.

I'd take any excuse they give to get Daniel back. But I think that was Dayton Callie at the end of the Promo. He showed up a few scenes earlier too.

He was Charlie Utter on Deadwood. He showed up in John from Cincinnati on HBO and later Sons of Anarchy.

Well darn it! I know they said Daniel would be back this season so I was hoping it was him. I hope, since it looks like they are heading back North area, that they run into Tobias.

Someone said Daniel would be back this season?! That's great news. Maybe because we lost you-know-who they decided D needed to return. I hope so.

The main thing this show has done wrong is poorly killing off every character most of it has been off screen or just had no real impact whatsoever on the characters or story. The only real death that had any real impact to the show was Travis ex wife and it quickly exposing how crazy Chris was. Travis death was just the worst and did nothing really but remove a boring character who really added nothing to the show once his crazy kid was dead he really had nothing to add Madison sure does not need him. Last but not least Daniel pointless "death" easily one of the best characters gone and not a word about him I hope he returns from the dead.

Daniel showed up at the very end of the last ep when Strand was still locked up in the cell. I don't really care what excuse they use or if they don't address how he's still alive. I'm glad to see him. As for Travis, I think people liked seeing how a pacifist was evolving to survive in the ZA. But if we can't keep Travis, I'll take Daniel any day.

Absolutely. He was a cool, interesting, developing character, but I guess they needed to kill him off, due to the actor's Avatar responsibilities. At least, they had a good reason.
