Discuss Ash vs Evil Dead

Bummed it will be over but it does seem they’ve gone as far as they can go story wise. Honestly I could take them making any story excuse to keep it going as I love the show and at only half an hour long it never wears out it’s welcome. There is just nothing like it on TV and it hits a major genre itch that only Ash and his world seems to scratch. I can appreciate going out on a high note but I will miss it. Shout out to Lucy Lawless who was a hoot in Season 3.

I did not get the final scene. What gives?

Great ending! I will miss this show

My take was that after Kandar the Destroyer fell on the tank, the Knights of Sumeria grabbed the unconscious Ash and put him into hibernation somehow to wake him up when he was needed again to fight evil. I think the ending was a shout out to the Apocalyptic alternate ending to Army of Darkness

My thoughts exactly. It did harken back to the way Raimi & Company wanted to end AOD before Universal demanded a happy sappy ending.

I'm just kinda sad we don't know what happened to the OTHER Ghost Beaters...maybe Pablo & Kelly get married and live happily ever after?!? Does Ash's daughter take over the family business?!? Did they think Ash DIED fighting the Kandar (they probably did & likely what the Knights of Sumeria wanted them to think). Was a bitter sweet ending, but can't imagine a better line to end the series on then "Groovy"!

I kept thinking when Ash was checking out the cyborg's ass, careful dude, that could be your granddaughter or Kelly and Pablo's kid. Sad to see it go but it went out on a high note

The ending was awesome. Hopefully in a while they can make a second series with Ash in the future. I won’t hold my breath, but it would be great.

There are only two proper ways to end a story - death of main character is one, and the other is showing the beginning of the brand new story with epic possibilities. Both ways have the proper response from the viewer or reader - great sadness or great optimism, which is exactly the triggers that make most damage to the psyche. I understand why some fans may be upset that they won't get to see the new story line, but that's exactly what they need - a vague but very optimistic boost to imagination at the end. I actually like both ways, depends on the story and the character. It was only fitting for Ash to leave us with this explosive episode - deadites begin to act more like a zombies as they attack in large group, the old ones destroy everything and can't be killed, Earth become post apocalyptic hell, and brand new shiny Ash with new hand and new chick is kicking a$$ on his upgraded Delta. It make me feel great and hopeful, what can be better?

Try as I might, I can't think of a better way to end the show than how they did it.

This is so true, and a good explanation why the Dexter finale was so poor. He lived, but he had no epic future.

In saying that, and I guess it depends on how you view that final scene, the ending of Sopranos was for me fantastic. To me Tony didn't have a new epic future, just same old same old. I honestly don't think he was just about to be killed, I always thought someone would catch up with him eventually, but until then he would be same old Tony, always looking over his shoulder.

Whoa, spoilers, dude.

I agree, though there are more than two ways. You can also have a bittersweet ending, though that could fall under the 'beginning of a brand new story' category.
Or a combination of both those endings (main character dying and the start of a new beginning).

The way I would have ended a third season (before viewing the actual third season) was to have them find the 'undo' button and they all get "normal" lives but with little to no memory or recollection of being the badasses they were.
Then we see them all meet up (like Ash having a family and walking into a store, maybe with Brandy, for service and Pablo and Kelly are working there).
None of them know each other, but there's a sense of knowing each other.

And if there was another season, we would see an alternate timeline of sorts where we get a new beginning with these chosen ones (now strangers) reuniting in a sense while getting an explanation as to all the similar timelines we see through the films and series (Ash goes to the past in medieval times and starts a new timeline with a slightly different Ash we see in every film, and again and again to where we not only find out what happens further with this Ash but to the previous Ash as well because things happen similar but differently).

SPOILERS FOR ENDING

The emotional ending of AVED III was the best way to end it (Ash saying goodbye to the three and never seeing each other again and never knowing what will become of them).
The post-apocalypse awakening was simply solidifying Ash's embracing of his destiny to go into that "eternal" fight Zoe (Knight of Sumeria) spoke of.

The very ending of the final episode was perfect. I really didn't care much for the Kandar the Destroyer storyline as it just didn't feel like it was part of the whole ED Thing - too much like War of the Worlds than anything.

But to see Ash wake up from some kind of cryogenic immersion into the future, and realising quite quickly that Earth (?) still has a deadite problem was in keeping with the mood of the entire ED franchise. It's like an unwinnable war: you can win the odd battle, but you never win the war. So for Ash it was busy as usual because that's what he does best - kill dead guys!
