The soap's most daring storyline involved an aspiring fashion model who had a secret that would lead to a scandal, a strained relationship, and a stalker storyline.

The story begins shortly after the premiere of "The City." Tess Wilder (the tiara-wearing transplant) had opened her own model agency and hired several people to work for her. Photographer Ally Bowman, male model Danny Roberts, secretary Molly Malone, and female models Stephanie Brewster and Azure C were among them.

Stephanie gave birth to a child and moved to Paris to be with the child's father just a few months after the show premiered, leaving Azure C as Tess' protege. Tess predicted that Azure C would be the next top model of the 1990s, and that she would become a star. And if the promotion of Azure C helped Tess gain international recognition, all the better, right?

Azure C, on the other hand, was a knockout. She was very photogenic, she looked great in most clothes, and you'd never know she was painfully shy at times from her pictures. One man who took notice was the superintendent of 212 Greene Street, which housed the Wilder Agency as well as the majority of the cast's residences. Bernardo Castro had developed feelings for Azure C and did everything he could to get her to notice him.

Azure, on the other hand, had three secrets that Bernardo was unaware of. The first secret was that Azure C's real name was Lee Chen, not Azure C. Bernardo, on the other hand, did not consider it a revelation. After all, many models have professional names in the industry.

Azure revealed to Bernardo that she went to the same high school as him and that she had always liked him back then. But Bernardo was perplexed because he had never met a girl named Lee Chen at school.

And for good reason, as secret #3 was the most important of all. Bernardo had no recollection of attending school with a girl named Lee Chen because Lee Chen was a boy! Yes, Lee Chen changed gender between Bernardo and Azure's high school graduation and Bernardo's first meeting with Azure at the Wilder Agency.

She had paid for the surgery herself, and she had mistakenly believed that she had covered her tracks so that no one would ever suspect she was a man. While she had every intention of telling Bernardo the truth, their relationship grew stronger. And the more Bernardo fell in love with Azure, the more difficult it became for her to reveal the truth.

Jared Chase, Sydney Chase's husband, discovered Azure's secret … and promptly published it in the New York tabloids. The shock waves caused a scandal at the agency because Tess had no idea about Azure's past and Bernardo didn't find out until after he spent the night with her and read the newspaper on his way to get some orange juice.

The repercussions of the revelation were enormous. Jared was able to gain complete control of Tess' agency through deception as a result of the scandal that he manipulated. Tess was left to pick up the shattered pieces of her life. Azure considered suicide in a seedy motel after her secret was revealed to the world.

Fortunately, Bernardo recovered from the scandal's shock and anger, and he was the one who persuaded Azure that she still had a lot of life left in her. The romantic relationship between Bernardo and Azure, on the other hand, fizzled. That was also a shame, because I believe the storyline could have been told with dignity and respect if the show had continued with it.. What about Azure C? She left the show in the summer of 1996 to restart her career, but her plane seatmate was an old friend and lover, Bernardo Castro. So, perhaps Azure did get her happy ending after all.
