Discuss Expedition Unknown

The current season, as confirmed on the Discovery website is season 11 but according toe TMDB it is season. While I have seen the past discussions regarding to season 6 and have read through every post, whether or not that season is in fact 6 or not does not change the fact that the current season is 11 and not 12. Can this be fixed?

As per our rules, when a network reorganise the episodes and seasons after the original broadcast, we don't reorganise the original seasons here and just add the new seasons after the existing one. Consequently, this season should be numbered 12 here.

If you want it numbered 11, you need to create an episode group without the 6th season.

I’m not sure I understand the logic here though. The reasoning in the longer discussion regarding season 6 centered around the fact that the network originally labeled it as season 6, thus TMDB labeled it that way as well. So that being the case, why would subsequent seasons be mislabeled even though the network clearly gives them the correct season number they want them to have? I understand (even if I don’t entirely agree) the argument for season 6 but the latest season for example has always been season 11. Never season 12. So based on the reasoning in the season 6 decision, logic would dictate that seasons 7 - 11 are wrong because they do not match what the network has ever said anywhere wouldn’t it?

Because we can't have 2 seasons with the same number. Doing what you want need to have 2 seasons numbered 6, which is not possible.

That certainly makes sense but then why not update everything the way the network lists everything then? As a TV/movie database, isn’t the intent to have factual information? It seems like a pretty minor thing to just go back and split off the afterlife one as a separate show and then correctly list the subsequent seasons. Like I don’t mean to sound rude or anything but I just don’t see what the harm is. Even more so due to the fact that it’s not just one isolated incorrect piece, it throws off multiple seasons by giving them the wrong season number. Sure maybe that one had been labeled season 6 initially but they changed it so why then can’t TMDB change it? Especially since this is the one and only place that has this show listed the way it is. To my knowledge, literally every other source currently has it differently. Again, not trying to argue, just trying to understand the logic.

The Afterlife has been released originally as season 6 of this show.

Consequently, this would be worst to list it separately.

Just having the season numbers shifted, as indicated by our rules, is a small detail compare to that, as you can create episode groups.
