Overview
幼い頃に母親を殺害され、その犯人として父親が投獄されてしまった過去を持つバリー・アレン。幼いバリーは当時の捜査官、ウエスト刑事に引き取られて、その娘アイリスと共に育つ。大人になり科学者となった彼は、CSIの科学調査員としてセントラル・シティの警察に勤務。父親の無実を晴らすため、母親の殺人事件の真相を追る。幼なじみのアイリスへの淡い恋心を抱きつつも。
そんなある日、実験室で粒子加速器が爆発し、巻き込まれたバリーはこん睡状態に陥いる。長い眠りから覚めた彼は、自分に超人的な治癒力と、閃光（＝フラッシュ）がごとく、超高速で移動できる能力が備わっていること知り、“フラッシュ”として悪と闘うことを決意する。
胸に稲妻のマークが入った深紅のコスチュームを身にまとい、超高速で疾走しながら、自分の大切な人々を守りぬいてゆく。
