幼い頃に母親を殺害され、その犯人として父親が投獄されてしまった過去を持つバリー・アレン。幼いバリーは当時の捜査官、ウエスト刑事に引き取られて、その娘アイリスと共に育つ。大人になり科学者となった彼は、CSIの科学調査員としてセントラル・シティの警察に勤務。父親の無実を晴らすため、母親の殺人事件の真相を追る。幼なじみのアイリスへの淡い恋心を抱きつつも。
