I understand that Gotham is a very dark series, but Season 4 is really getting too dark to be funny. The explicit murder of a child and the ripping off of arms is a step too far in my opinion. I think that Gotham used to work because it was comic book in its violence and the characters were human caricatures, and obviously so. This whole series is like some psychopaths wildest imaginings. The writers seem to have abandoned the fine line between funny and repellent and don't know when to stop. When gore replaces good writing it's time to call it a day.

Yeah, I can't watch this show anymore. It's not only what you mentioned, but also the stupidity of some of the characters, how every female is overpowered to the point of it being laughable, cheesy, ham-fisted dialogue, and how ridiculous the story arcs are at times. I watched all of season 1-3, but this is like the straw that broke the camel's back now in season 4. It has become unwatchable to me, and I sat through some really bad episodes in earlier seasons. The writing is just seemingly getting worse in my opinion.
