Discuss Better Call Saul

I really liked it and flew by too quickly. Just love this show.

What do you think Jimmy was thinking when Howard opened up about the insurance rates and that he (Howard) thinks he drove Chuck to kill himself? Jimmy smiled as he put the fish food in, but I thought he would have blamed himself as he pointed out to the insurance firm about Chuck.

Question I came to ask.

As you said, we know Jimmy set that entire insurance dilemma in motion.

Up to the moment Howard "confessed” Jimmy had been walking around in a Zombie-like state. But, the second he hears Howard tell the reason he thinks Chuck went over-the-edge, Jimmy springs to life, starts grinning, and bouncing all over the place.

We know that starting out Jimmy loved his brother--not so Chuck (hated Jimmy because he thought mom loved him better—hated the way Jimmy played fast-and-loose with the law). We also know that long before Jimmy started repaying him in kind; Chuck sent a lot of misery Jimmy's way—threw up professional roadblocks--tried to stymie Jimmy's career.

Maybe Jimmy was happy knowing that he had finally bested Chuck and gotten the last laugh? And, letting Howard take the blame was just “icing on the cake”.

That look on Kim’s face when Jimmy left Howard holding-the-guilt-bag was priceless.

here's the elephant in the room which the writers will NEVER be able to get around. It doesn't matter if Jimmy changes his name to Saul Goodman as a way of staying a lawyer because his (Jimmy's) face is all over the goddamn place on billboards as Saul and whatnot and there have to be lawyers at other firms who know Saul is Jimmy and who would love to ruin him. No way the writers can make that work. And lets be honest, Gould and the writers are taking a year to make less than 15 episodes and they STILL have to drag stuff out and waste time by showing yet another new Mexico sunset/sunrise/landscape? Spare me. And that's not even getting into the whole bait and switch black and white garbage showing Jimmy at his new job at Cinnebon. Oh gee is the cabby a hitman? Please.

You could be right and also indicate the first sign of Saul Goodman.

So you are not a BCS fan then. 😆

A few years back there was a series in the paper about a guy who finally "came in" after nearly 20 years on the run. He had belong to one of those SLA-like organizations.

He told stories of his life on the run. How he kept his head down, how he surreptitiously contacted his love ones so that they would know he was OK, the jobs he held, and the places he lived over the years. He told of his near-misses/harrowing escapes involving law enforcement.

When the news source contacted law enforcement to verify the guy's story; their response was--WHO?

When it came to Jimmy and the taxi guy--couldn't help but think of the on-the-run guy from the newspaper.

I guess; "If all you have is a hammer...."

I wait until all episodes are available and then binge watch. I can't wait a week for another episode. Thankfully, those days are long gone.

I really wish they could bring out all episodes at once. I have to watch BCS weekly to avoid spoilers. Someone spoiled 'The Affair' for me on Twitter when I was reading what people thought of BCS. Here in the UK we get the episode a week later for 'The Affair' and now I know a major Character dies. Why talk about that on a BCS thread. Grrrrrrrr

Yeah. A real bummer!

Even when you think you are safe by staying off a show's site someone somewhere out of the blue can spoil it for you.

I'd be so afraid of spoilers that I could never risk it. They are everywhere! Once I got caught up and was late watching an episode of "This Is Us"--believe it or not, the local news cast that came on right after the episode spoiled it for me.

Oh gosh. Season 2 has just started airing in the UK. Can you believe that?? I'm lucky I haven't come across any spoilers yet. Can't believe they make us wait nearly a year after it came out in the US to screen it here. Love this show so much, but makes me cry every episodes. smile

Agree completely regarding spoilers in a different show threads. In my case, even if I know something about a character, I just enjoy the ride when it comes to BCS. For example, I know Chuck dies but it won't spoil my enjoyment of it.

BTW: I am also in UK. I only managed to watch the 1st series of The Affair - couldn't hack it after that. For example, I have Billions S3 recorded but no real desire to watch it. I loved S1 of it but S2 was kind of meh. There are lots of shows that start with a bang and then fizzle out - at least for me.

Yea, with Billions I tried to get into it, but didn't really like any of the characters and the show felt so high and mighty as if it was trying really hard to be cool with a bit of shock factor put in too. I stopped after S1. You should try 'The Affair' season 2. It got much better as this time you see it from all 4 people's point of views. I like the premise of the show. Interesting to see how others view certain situations.

Shows I'm really into at the moment are 'BCS', 'The Affair', 'This is U'S and 'Shooter' season 3 ,which has redeemed itself after the awful Season 2. 'Homeland' is so good too. Really disappointed 'Designated Survivor' was cancelled.

I think you are correct about Billions not having any likeable characters but I like Paul Giamatti so watched S1 but S2 was really bad.

Perhaps, I will give The Affair a chance. I have never seen the other two shows. Don't talk to me about Homeland. I gave up on it from S1E4 when she starts the affair with Damien Lewis' characters. The 1st 2 episodes were really great. Designated Survivor - I loved S1 because it was so out of it. Total nonsense but enjoyable nonetheless. S2 tried to be The West Wing Lite and the writing just wasn't up to it. If they had carried in the same manner as S1 then it may have survived.

  • Sneaky Pete. Fine lighthearted time pass show. I would watch S2 if they made it.
  • Ozark (with Jason Bateman) was just about okay - not that good but I watched it purely for Jason Bateman.
  • The Good Doctor - I stuck with it for the full season but very predictable. It is sort of show to watch on a rainy afternoon but better to do something else entirely.

Just remembered. I LOVED FARGO S1-S3. Absolute class television. I am sure you have seen it too.

Yea Fargo reminded me of Breaking Bad with the clever writing and downfall of the characters. I wasn't too keen on S3 though. I think it was because of Ewan McGregor. I don't really like him and now knowing he had an affair in real life with his on screen girlfriend put me off him more. Season 1 and 2 were really AWESOME!! I hope there will be a 4th season. I'm looking forward to True Detective S3. I'm in the minority in that I loved S2 more than 1. Please don't hate me. grin

'Homeland' got so much better during and after S3 with the introduction of Peter Quinn's character. He is AWESOME and hardcore. You should try to give it ago again. It changes storyline from season 4, then always a new storyline per season after that. It's action packed and thrilling.

Haven't seen Sneaky Pete yet but it is on my to do list. I have seen Ozark and looking forward to S2.
