Donna az esküvőjén már éppen az igent mondaná, amikor aranyló felhő támad körülötte és eltűnik... A Doktor legnagyobb meglepetésére váratlanul egy esküvői ruhás nő jelenik meg a TARDIS-ban. Miután a kölcsönös megdöbbenés némileg lecsillapszik, a Doktor megpróbálja Donnát visszajuttatni Londonba, az esküvőjére. Ez azonban nem megy bonyodalmak nélkül, egyre több furcsaság támad Donna körül. Egy mikulásjelmezbe bújt taxis elrabolja a lányt... Megvadult karácsonyfa... A lány munkahelyének tulajdonosa Torchwood... Elhagyott titkos pinceszintek, ahol persze rejtőzik valami iszonyú... Mi történt 4,3 milliárd évvel ezelőtt... A Doktor a Titanic-on landol (igen, a jól ismert Titanic, ahol az úri közönség táncol... vagyis csak majdnem az) és csakhamar megismerkedik egy pincérnővel, Astriddal [Kylie Minogue]. Hamarosan kiderül, hogy a hajót katasztrófa fenyegeti, de a kapitány nem tesz ellene semmit. A hajó tele van szárnyas angyalszobrokkal, "akik" tulajdonképpen az utasokat tájékoztató robotok. A hajót eltalálja három meteorit, süllyedni... öö... zuhanni kezd, rengetegen elpusztulnak, a léken át a TARDIS is kizuhan és elsodródik. A Doktor, Astrid és több ismerősük menekülni próbálnak. Az angyalszobrok azonban gyilkolni kezdik a megmaradt utasokat. Miért hagyta a kapitány a Titanic-ot a sorsára? Miért változott meg az angyalok viselkedése? Ki van mindezek mögött? A menekülőket az angyalok üldözőbe veszik, a kigyulladt és széteső hajóban a hajsza során többen meghalnak. Végül Astrid önfeláldozása menti meg a többiek életét. A Doktor mindhiába próbálja a lányt megmenteni, aki meg is hal (meg nem is)...

1851 karácsony estéjén a Doktor Londonba érkezik – hogy pár perccel később összefusson egy Rosita nevű nővel és barátjával, a "Doktorral". A kiborgok egy földi nő, Miss Hartigan segítségével törnek a Föld feletti uralomra. A két Doktor nyomozni kezd, egy házban kiborg inforudakat találnak (memóriamodul és energiafegyver együttese), ezzel részben megölik a támadókat, részben múltbeli információkat felidéznek. Mi a szerepe Miss Hartigannak, és mi köze a kiborgkirályhoz?... Miféle feladatra szedik össze a kiborgok a gyerekeket?... Kicsoda/micsoda a kiborgkirály?... Közben kiderül, hogy amit korábban messzi homokviharnak néztek, repülő rájaszerű lények ellenséges tömege... Közeledik a halál, mondja a buszbeli öreg hölgy... Az összetört űrhajó szondáinak segítségével a Doktor megfejti, mik közelednek és hová lett az egykor virágzó bolygó sok milliárd lakója meg minden... A Doktor a TARDIS-szal a Mars bolygó felszínén materializálódik 2059-ben. Azonban, mikor észreveszi, hogy egy kutató központ fekszik a dombok közt, egy felderítő-robot lézer fegyverrel kezében bevezeti a bázisra. Itt megismerkedik, a legénységgel. Ők azért vannak itt, hogy megvizsgálják, hogy a Marson van-e élet. A Doktor végül elmondja a kapitánynak, hogy meg fognak halni. A kapitány kéri, hogy mentse meg, de a Doktor szerint a halála fix pont az időben, nem tehet semmit. Otthagyja a bázist, azonban működik az adóvevő, így végighallgatja ahogy a legénység meghal vagy éppen megfertőződik. Egy hiretelen ötlettől vezérelve visszafordul, és a kis robot szondával odairányítja TARDIS-t és megmenti a kapitányt és még két űrhajóst, a Földre viszi őket. A Doktor boldog, még ha szól is a kolostor harang a történelem változása miatt. Épp elindulna amikor lövést hall: a kapitányt öngyilkos lett (a Doktor emléke is megváltozik, miszerint a Földön, és nem a Marson halt meg). A Doktor csalódottan kijelenti magának, hogy ez a vakmerő vállalkozás hiába volt. Hiába ő az utolsó Idő Úr, az idő törvényeit nincs joga megváltoztatni. Ekkor meglát egy Údot a kihalt londoni utcán. Erre elgondolkozik, és rájön, hogy helyre kell hoznia amit elrontott, így belép a TARDIS-ba, majd megszólal az időrotor turbinaszerű hangja...

During a visit to a local diner the doctor stumbles upon a mysterious alien artefact that leads him on a mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the Viperox and the clutches of the American military in New Mexico.

Karácsony közeledtével minden ember rosszakat álmodik, de elfelejtik... kivéve Wilfredet, Donna nagyapját. A Doktort az oodok a bolygójukra hívják, mert ott is érthetetlen dolgokat álmodnak... a Mesterről és valami mindent beborító sötét árnyékról, ami maga az idő ellen munkálkodik. A Doktor a Földre siet, közben azonban egy titkos szekta életre kelti a Mestert. A Mester volt felesége ezt megpróbálja megakadályozni... az eredmény óriási robbanás, a Mestert kivéve mindenki meghal. A Doktor késve érkezik a robbanás helyére. Wilfred és idős barátai a kék fülke és a Doktor keresésére sietnek, hogy az álmok miatt a segítségét kérjék. Egy szeméttelepen fut össze mindenki, itt akadnak rá a Mesterre, aki a robbanás miatt instabil állapotban van, folyton ennie kell... A Doktor és a Mester rövid beszélgetésük során rájönnek, hogy valami ismeretlen fenyegetés készülődik... s a Mester fejében nem szűnik a végnélküli dobolás... A Mesterre másnak is szüksége van: egy Joshua Naismith nevű milliárdos egy bonyolult gépet "szerzett", a Halhatatlanság Kapuját, amivel halhatatlanságot adhat a lányának. A végső beállításhoz szüksége lenne a Mesterre, ezért elraboltatja. A gép persze nem földi eredetű... Azonban a gép két (csak embernek álcázott) kezelője is készül valamire... sőt a Mester is, mikor a gép elé ültetik. Wilfred (és Donna tudatalattija) a Doktort ideirányítja, de már nem sokat tud tenni. Mikor a Mester belép a gépbe, a Föld minden embere... a Mester hasonmásává válik.

A Gallifrey bolygón az Idő Lordok visszatérésre készülnek. Az Időháború utolsó napján időzárat hoztak létre bolygójuk körül, ami fixálta őket az időben és elzárta a világegyetemtől. A Doktor, a Mester és az Idő Lordok Elnöke összecsapnak, a Doktor életében talán először fog pisztolyt a kezébe... de a mindent megoldó lövést nem emberre adja le... a Mester és az Idő Lordok Gallyfrei-vel együtt visszasüllyednek az időzár mögé, a Mester okozta kusza földi helyzet visszacsinálódik. Elhangzik a próféciák szerinti négy kopogás... A Doktor megmenti valaki életét, azonban egyúttal halálos sugárfertőzést szenved. A regenerációja kezdetben csak lassan indul be, még van ideje, hogy néhány régi ismerőst felkeressen és segítsen nekik. A regeneráció utolsó fázisa azonban olyan heves, hogy a TARDIS belseje is darabokra hullik és zuhanni kezd a Föld felé...

Novice Hame, one of the feline nurses working at the hospital on New Earth, presents a promotional video for the infirmary, claiming the staff can cure any disease. She welcomes the audience to come to the hospital before pointing out one of the hospital’s current patients, who has a terminal illness known as Autras Disease.

Moments later the patient is cured, sitting in bed holding a bunch of flowers. Hame claims the nurses never loose a patient, for they are here to help. Suddenly there is a cry of a woman screaming for help, followed by the screeching whine of a cat. All is not as it seems in the hospital…

An alien pod hurtles through space, heading for Earth. It crash-lands in a ball of flame somewhere in the Scottish Highlands, apparently unseen. Three hundred years later a man walks alone amongst the unchanged landscape, followed by the unsettling growl of a beast. He looks around for the source of the noise but sees nothing, and so continues on his way. A moment later the noise sounds again and he looks back over his shoulder a second time. On this occasion he sees the creature following him and runs for his life. However, he is unable to escape. The giant beast pounces and drags him to the ground…

Mickey sits alone in a café, clicking frantically on his laptop computer. He flicks through dozens of pictures showing mysterious UFOs but these mean nothing to him, he needs something bigger. He finally arrives at a page where he cannot enter due to an access denial by an organization known as ‘Torchwood’. He realizes this is what he has been looking for and takes out his mobile phone. He calls Rose and tells her there are strange goings on back on Earth; there has been increased activity at a nearby school, including a lot of strange lights in the sky. He tells her that he needs her and the Doctor; there is something out there. Sure enough, miles away in the corridors of the school a giant bat-like creature stands and unfolds it’s wings, revealing itself and screeching out into the night…

On a spaceship deep in space one of the observation crew is taken by surprise when an ion storm erupts nearby. She calls out a warning to the rest of the crew but it is too late; the impact rocks the ship and the computer panels begin to overload in a shower of sparks. She calls out a mayday signal but there is nobody left to hear it.

Some time later the crew all lie dead. A loud ticking echoes around the command deck as a shadowed figure approaches the last survivor who sighs with relief at its presence. Suddenly she realizes it is not there to help her and she screams out to no avail, she is doomed…

Elsewhere, on an ornate mantelpiece above a fireplace a clock is ticking away, until suddenly its face cracks and time stops…

On a computer screen; a message has been received by a group known as ‘The Preachers’ from another figure known as ‘Gemini’. It details that the subject of the report is John Lumic, founder of Cybus Industries (est. 1982).

It reports the main information on Cybus Industries; such as the profit margin of $78 billion in 2001, and a report from South America that in 2004 259,996 people went missing from within its borders. Finally it reports the Lumic is working on his “ultimate upgrade” and then goes on to say that he must be stopped.

Across the globe metal men are preparing to disembark as part of the upgrade and as the report concludes a figure resembling Mickey sits in a large blue van, watching the screen before him. He watches as the report calls for all Preachers to mobilize and as the message ends with an advertisement from Cybus Industries promoting the upcoming “ultimate upgrade”, he drives away…

A report issued from John Lumic to every continent on the planet orders all cyber factories across the Earth to begin production, the “ultimate upgrade” is about to reach maximum velocity.

As the report continues it details the objectives of the upgrade; the removal of the human brain from its body and its replacement into a brand new metal body.

Across the globe hoards of Cybermen are being manufactured and are starting to awaken. They line the streets in preparation to take over the world; their orders stand to delete all incompatible material…

In an ordinary 1950’s household a deliveryman uncovers a brand new state of the art television set to an excited old woman.

That night she sits down in preparation to watch the set as tendrils of red electricity buzz around the device. She concludes that it is not working and gets out of her chair to hit the set in order to try and make it work.

However as she does so the red tendrils of electricity flare up to and begin to break free of the television screen. They pursue her as she retreats back to her chair in terror and make a move towards her face.

Some time later the old woman is gone; leaving only the television set to broadcast a report on the upcoming coverage of the following day’s coronation of Queen Elizabeth II…

In a shining white office an official-looking woman consults a man called Captain Walker, explaining a planet has been located holding a powerful power-source capable of preventing the world from being sucked into a black hole. If he has go and retrieve it he will have saved the empire.

She shows him a series of artifacts that led them to find the planet, including an ancient book of strange symbols apparently detailing the planet’s myths. Walker asks to know more about them but the woman dismisses them, telling him he can overcome them as he is a big strong man with a top ship and a top crew.

She bids him goodbye and good luck and as he goes he passes a slave creature holding a translation orb. It watches him go before claiming “the beast shall rise from the pit…”

One of the Ood passes a member of the sanctuary base a box of possessions belonging to the late Captain Walker. He takes them and seals the box but reopens it when the lights dim and the computers begin to claim that “he shall awake”.

He takes out a book containing a series of ancient symbols and as he looks the computers around him go mad, spouting that “the beast is awake and he shall rise from the pit”. Doors begin to lock themselves and the book bursts into flames, reducing itself into dust.

The young man tries to open a nearby door but it is locked tight, and all it can do is tell him the “he is coming…”

Some time later the young man sits in a swivel chair in the returned-to-normal room. A young woman enters and tries to talk to him but gets no reply. She turns his chair around to find him lifeless; a series of the ancient symbols etched to his skin…

A heavy-breathing man holding a cane sits in a high-backed chair staring at a laptop before him. As he drums his fingers on the smooth surface of the device he stares at the website it displays; an appeal from an organization called L.I.N.D.A asking for information on a man called the Doctor.

He clicks on a link regarding becoming a member of L.I.N.D.A but it proves fruitless, L.I.N.D.A is a secret organization. He instead takes out an alien looking device and aims it at the screen which changes, instead tracking down the location the website is run from. He is given an address but before he can continue there is a knock at the door.

A cheerful tea lady walks in and prepares to give him a cup of tea, but as she turns to see the figure sitting before her she screams in terror…

In an ‘ordinary’ London street a reporter for a television called “Crime Crackers” tells his viewers that things are amiss in suburbia. Two children have gone missing from their own homes and the police do not know where they have gone or why they were taken.

He calls upon the ‘crime crackers’ of the nation to help find the missing youths and gives a phone number to contact the programme with if they should have any information on the matter.

As the reporter signs off he is unaware that somewhere in the street there stands a wardrobe, its doors shaking. They fly open to reveal a pair of blood-red glowing eyes, calling out for Chloe…

In a newspaper office a young male reporter tells his editor he can get her the biggest story of the century, the story of Torchwood. She tells him to find it for her and soon he is on the streets communicating with secret contacts who provide him with evidence to back up his suspicions of an organisation stretching back to the time of Queen Victoria.

He begins to see what all of this has in common with the ghosts that have been appearing across the globe and no sooner has he finished he is handing in his story. He tells his editor to publish it quickly or he will be found out…but t is too late.

His editor has double crossed him and handed him over to Torchwood, who provide hew with a new nondescript front page and take the young reported away, who screams out that he knows the truth about the ghosts…

A newsreader sitting at her desk in a TV studio delivers an emergency broadcast. The country is under attack and the government have declared it a state of emergency.

As she talks clips of the Cybermen attacking army strongholds are shown on screen, the metal giants wiping out anyone and anything that stands in their way.

The reporter hears from her earpiece that there is no new word from the government; the country is on its own. She unnervingly explains that the Cybermen are everywhere, before urging people to run if they see the metal monsters.

Suddenly the building is under attack and as the desperate newsreader falls to the floor explosions rock the room, destroying the set. The reporter then tearfully calls out to her mum and dad before attempting to sign off, but it is too late.

Doctor Who returns to the Proms with a new show hosted by stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, featuring Murray Gold's music, behind-the-scenes access and a host of monsters.

Matt and Karen introduce us to 2 boys who have benefited from money raised by Children In Need and have tea in the Tardis with them. This also includes a preview of the Doctor Who Christmas episode "A Christmas Carol".

Kazran szomorú mert állítólag az összes osztálytársa látott egy raj ég-halt. Ő is próbál elfogni egy halat, de az apja nem engedi meg neki meg, mert veszélyesek. A Doktorral együtt eltározzák, hogy találnak egy ilyen halat. Viszont a hal helyet egy cápát fognak. A cápát annyira megsebesítik, hogy csak a hideg tudja megmenteni. Olyan hideg amilyen a fagyasztóban van, ahol a felesleges embereket fagyasztják le. A fagyasztóban a cápa felébred és rátámad Kazranra és a Doktorra. A cápa lenyugszik, mikor egy lány énekel neki, mert az ének rezonál a köddel. A lányt Abigailnek hívják. A Doktor elhatározza, hogy minden karácsonykor felolvasztják és elmennek valahová a TARDISsal, és ezért talán Kazran élete is megváltozik és megmenti az űrhajót.

Before the Doctor returns to Lake Silencio, we return to Area 52…

Egy űrhajó közeleg a Föld felé, hogy fegyvereivel elpusztítsa azt. Mondani sem kell, nem járnak sikerrel, az űrhajó felrobban és darabjaira hullik. A roncsok közül pedig a Doktor zuhan ki egy űrruhával.

Nem sokkal később becsapódik az 1938-as Földbe. Egy Magde Arvell nevű angliai hölgy talál rá, és a közeli TARDIS-hoz segíti a furcsa idegent.

Három évvel később a második világháborúban, Madge férje lezuhan a gépével a La Manche csatorna felett. A nő nem meri elmondani a gyerekeinek a szomorú hírt és elviszi őket egy vidéki házba a bombázások elől. A házban a Doktor, vagy ahogy most hívja magát, a Gondnok várja őket. A házba belépő család elképedve látja, hogy a Gondnok mindent "megjavított" a házban. A megjavítást, pedig úgy kell érteni, hogy minden egyes szobát átformált a saját kedve szerint. (mozgó kanapé, limonádé csap, stb.) Még egy ajándékot is hozott a családnak, amit a kíváncsi Cyrill túl korán nyit ki. Amint kibontja a kék dobozt, átkerül egy havas bolygóra, ahol természetes karácsonyfák nőnek. On her first trip in the TARDIS, Amy questions the Eleventh Doctor on how the time machine works, why it takes the shape of a police box, and whether he is an alien. The Doctor answers most of her questions, and then opens the TARDIS doors to reveal that thy are in deep space. When Amy doesn't believe what she is seeing, the Doctor pushes her though the doors.

Karácsony éjjel Clara arra ébred, hogy a Mikulás szánja lezuhant a háza tetején. A télapó próbálja terelni a szót, de végül beismeri, hogy tényleg létezik. Ekkor érkezik meg a Doktor és beparancsolja Clarat a TARDIS-ba és gyorsan az Északi Sarkra sietnek. Itt egy expedíció 4 túlélőjére és 4, az álomrákok által kómába esett áldozatára találnak. A fertőzöttek mozdulatlanok, ameddig valaki rájuk nem gondol, de ha ez megtörténik, akkor támadásba lendülnek. Álomrákok ereszkednek le a plafonról és nincs esély a túlélésre. Ekkor azonban megérkezik a Mikulás, Rudolf hátán lovagolva és játékhadseregével megmenti a Doktort és az embereket. Minden jól alakul, egészen addig amíg Clarat el nem kapja egy álomrák. A Doktor társa egy idilli álomba kerül, ahol újra találkozhat Dannyvel. A baj csak az, hogy amíg ő az álomban van, addig az álomrák felfalja az agyát. A Doktor belép az álomba és kimenti Clarat, de miután kiléptek az álomból akkor jön rá, hogy egy álmon belüli álomban voltak. A valóság nem lehet valóság. Egy álomban több kisebb álmot is el lehet rejteni. Valójában tényleg létezik a Mikulás? Vagy csak az álmok szüleménye?

Strax just had to address the exact number of Doctors thanks to The War Doctor and the Tenth Doctor staying exactly the same after his regeneration in Journey’s End.

The Doctor visits the planet Karn, to discuss an old enemy...or is it an old friend? 'and embarks on a course that could lead to his destruction....

The Doctor must meditate to prepare to see his 'old friend' and atone for a past mistake..but he can't mediate without proper drinking water..

Az épp landoló Doktort egy Nardole nevű szolga keresi River Song professzor megbízásából: mint a legjobb sebészt keresi férje, Hydroflax király megmentéséhez. Egy repülő csészealjban fogadja River Song a Doktort, akit új alakjában nem ismer fel. A király, aki csupán egy élő fej a testőrrobotjához kapcsolva, egy csetepaté során fejsérülést szenvedett: a Halassi Androvar, a világegyetem legértékesebb gyémántja az agyába fúródott, s lassan megöli őt. A Doktort kissé bosszantja, ahogy River a férjét körülrajongja. Beszélgetésükből kiderül, hogy River igazából csak a gyémánthoz "ment férjhez", a férj akár meg is halhat az orvos keze alatt. A Doktornak nem tetszik ez a hozzáállás, Rivernek viszont nincs lelkismeretfurdalása, mert Hydroflax egy tömeggyilkos. A király kihallgatja a beszélgetésüket. Lecsatolja fejét a robotttestről és a robotnak megparancsolja, hogy ölje meg Rivert és a Doktort. A Doktor felragadja a király fejét s a hulladék-megsemmisítőbe való bedobással fenyegetőzik, csak így áll le a támadás. A fejet egy zsába dugják s Ramon, River igazi férje elteleportálja őket. Kiderül, hogy igazából River a Doktort keresteti, Ramonnál van az első 12 Doktor fényképe. Bár a Doktort nem, de a TARDIS-t megtalálták, ezért szállt le itt Hydroflax űrhajójával. River egyszerűen el szándékozik lopni a TARDIS-t, és most meg is teszi a Doktor néma asszisztálása közben.

River a biztonsági rendszer miatt nem tudja a TADIS-t elindítani, mivel a gépezet érzékeli, hogy egyazon személy részben bent (a fej), részben kint van (a robot). A robottest követi őket, előzőleg azonban "magáévá teszi" Nardole fejét, hogy megszerezze a benne levő információkat. Az utcán Ramonnal is összefut, az ő fejét is megszerzi és csellel bejut a TARDIS-ba. Az időgép így már elindul s a Harmony and Redemption (Harmónia és Megváltás) luxus űrhajóra érkezik. Riven az ismerős főpincérrel a TARDIS-t a karantén raktérbe helyezteti, hogy a robottest ne üldözhesse őket tovább. Rivernek esze ágában sincs a gyémántot visszaszolgáltatni jogos tulajdonosának, el akarja itt adni a hajón – az utasok a legmenőbb és leggazdagabb gonosztevők, rablók, stb. Egy Scratch nevű, metszettarcú alak a vevőjelölt, a pénzt is elhozta elektronikus formában a koponyájában. Ám a gyémántot tartalmazó királyi fej átadásakor beüt a baj: kiderül, hogy Scratch és társai Hydroflax király hódolói. A Doktor bla-bla szövegeléssel próbálja az időt húzni és Riverrel együtt meglépni. Közben azonban a főpincér és főnöke balfácánkodása miatt a robottest kiszabadul, s hogy mentsék magukat, ráveszik a robotot, hogy inkább a Doktor fejét válassza a sérült és haldokló királyi fej helyett. Az étteremben a robot megsemmisíti a fejet – ott marad a gyémánt – és megkaparintja River Song naplóját, hogy annak alapján megtalálhassa a Doktort. River a kérdésükre nem tudja megmondani, hogy hol lehet a Doktor, s kis monológot ad elő, hogy bár ő szereti a Doktort, a Doktor nemigen képes viszonozni ilyen emberi érzelmeket. A végén azonban a lágyan rátekintő Doktor tekintetéből felismeri, hogy a mellette álló férfi a Doktor. Mivel ismeri a jövőt, tudja, hogy hamarosan meteortalálatot kap a hajó. Ekkor egy emeletet átzuhanva meglépnek, River a vezérlőbe indul, hogy stabilizálja a hajót, a Doktor a robottal foglalkozik. A pénzutaló gömbbel, illetve adataival túlterheli a robot áramköreit. River és a Doktor a vezérlőben látja, hogy a Darillium bolygóra felé zuhannak. Itt vannak az Éneklő Tornyok – a Doktor már korábban többször ígérgette Rivernek, hogy egyszer majd ellátogatnak ide. Az utolsó pillanatokban a Doktor egy fogással Rivert a TARDIS-ra teleportálja, a nő pedig a TARDIS-szal a hajóra visszajön. A lezuhanáskor mindketten a TARDIS-ban vannak. A fülke ismét bebizonyítja, hogy csakugyan megsemmisíthetetlen, az utasai szerencsésen átvészelik a zuhanást.

Az Éneklő Tornyok mellett egy férfi túlélőket keres a roncsok között. A Doktor nógatja, hogy építsen ide egy nagy éttermet, s az anyagiak biztosításához átadja neki a gyémántot. Majd a TARDIS-t kicsit előre viszi az időben, s az étteremben asztalt foglaltat maguknak, négy éve múlva karácsonykor.

River a TARDIS-ból kilépve az étterem előterében a robottal fut össze, aki most Ramon fejét viseli. A robotból átprogramozás után egyszerű pincér lett. A Doktor karácsonyi ajándékot nyújt át Rivernek, egy szónikus csavarhúzót [amit majd a Könyvtárban fog használni]. Az erkélyen, miközben az Éneklő Tornyokat hallgatják River elmondja, hogy a naplója majdnem betelt, ezért fél, hogy valami történni fog. A Doktor kitér a válasz elől, csak annyit mond: "spoiler". River amiatt is aggódik, hogy bizonyos mende-mondák szerint a Darilliumon lesz majd az utolsó együtt töltött éjszakájuk. De elmosolyodik, mikor a Doktor közli vele, hogy a Darilliumon 24 évig tart egy éjszaka.

1992 karácsony éjjelén a 9 éves Grant arra ébred, hogy egy ember himbálódzik fejjel lefelé az ablaka előtt. A Doktor az, aki abban mesterkedik, hogy a háztetőn egy olyan szerkezetet eszkábáljon össze, amely semlegesíti a korábbi new york-i látogatásai (ld. Az angyalok manhattani támadása, 2012) okozta időtorzulásokat, paradoxonokat. A tetőn "Doktor Mysterio" – ahogy Grant hívja őt egy képregény nyomán – egy piros kristályt ad a fiúnak, aki beveszi abban a hitben, hogy megfázás elleni gyógyszer – azonban a gépezet bekapcsolásához kellene a kristály. A kristálytól viszont Grantnak szuperképességei lesznek. A Doktor megígérteti vele, hogy sohasem fogja a képességeit használni.

2016-ban Mr. Brock sajtókonferenciát tart a Harmony Shoals tudományos kutatóintézetben, kitérő válaszokat adva Lucy Fletcher riporternő kérdésére, hogy kik a cég támogatói. Egy Nardole nevű férfi is furcsa kérdéseket tesz fel. Éjszaka Dr. Sim megmutatja Mr. Brocknak, hogy valami gond van az agyakkal: az üvegedényekben tartott agyak száma növekszik, anélkül, hogy bárki hozott volna újakat. Az agyak igazi célját Mr. Brock sem ismeri, azokat a támogatók adták, mondja, majd igencsak meglepődik, mikor látja, hogy az agyaknak szeme van. Közben Lucy takarítónőnek öltözve kémkedik, de hasonló cipőben jár Nardole és a Doktor is. Rajtakapják őket, a váratlan megmentő az ablakon át érkezik, a városszerte csak Kísértetnek hívott szuperman – vagyis Grant.

A Doktor követi Grantot a benne levő kő nyomán. Grant gyerekfelvigyázással keresi a kenyerét – most épp Lucy gyerekére vigyáz. A hazaérkező nő meglepődve fedezi fel a Doktort és társát. Egy visszaemlékezésből kiderül, Grant teenager kora óta szerelmes Lucy-be. Később Lucy férjhez ment Grant egy barátjához, gyerekük született, majd a férfi elhagyta. Lucy a Doktort faggatja az agyakról. A Doktor végül elárulja, hogy azok valójában idegen lények, bolygóról bolygóra vándorolnak és a nekik megfelelő életformák központi idegrendszerét "kivonják". A multinacionális Harmony Shoals leple alatt kulcsemberek agyát kicserélve készítik elő a Föld gyarmatosítását. A nő kilogikázza, hogy a Doktor tudja, ki a Kísértet, és hogy nem is titkosügynök, mint kezdetben állította magáról. Közben a Kísértet/Grant kiment valakit egy tűzvészből és gyerekeket ment le egy óriáskerékről. Lucy mindenképpen interjút szeretne a Kísértettel, aki meglepetésére önként jelentkezik és másnap estére találkozót beszélnek meg.

A Harmony Shoals központjában a már kicserélt Mr. Brock és társa a Kísértet/Grantot és a Doktort figyeli, aki váratlanulszemélyesen is megjelenik közölve, hogy jobb lesz békén hagyniuk a a Földet. A TARDIS-t aztán a cég tokiói központjába irányítja, mert onnan valami rádiójelzés megy az égbe, valami kering a Föld körül. A Doktor és Nardole odaérkezve rájönnek, hogy az űrhajó reaktora kritikus állapotban van, a hajót bombaként kívánják New Yorkra ráejteni, és csak a Harmony Shoals épülete fogja kibírni a robbanást. A Doktor elindítja a folyamatot, de a terve, hogy majd a TARDIS-szal eltéríti az űrhajót, nem jön be. Ezért Grant segítségét kéri.

Folyik az interjú. Mr. Brock és társa a Kísértetet próbálják elkapni, végül sikerül is és Lucy életével zsarolják, hogy ne álljon ellen az agycserének. A Kísértet azonban kitör, majd Grantként visszatér. De befut a Doktor segélykérése, ezért leleplezva magát, elkapja a zuhanó űrhajót.

A happy end közben a Doktor mélabúsan távozik. Nardole elárulja a többieknek, hogy a Doktor River Song miatt olyan lehangolt, de sebaj, majd rendbe jön.
