Episode Numbering should be continuous between seasons

So with long running shonen anime like one piece and naruto, in this example naruto, the first episode of season 2 is episode 53.
As per the guideline, since the official website for Gintama has been using consecutive episode numbering for all series, shouldn't it be changed to reflect it?
So every season of gintama shouldn't start with episode 1, but rather continue the numbering from the previous season.

As per the seasons, whether seasons 1~4 should be separate is up for debate as they were broadcast as one show. But the rest of the seasons were broadcasted with different names so they should stay separated.
