Discuss Penny Dreadful

I just started watching this show, well actually I watched the first two when it premiered ...I intended to keep watching but got distracted and never did. Now that it's all on Netflix I decided to give it another try. I am about half way through the first season and loving it. So beautifully filmed and well acted. How did Eva Green not win an Emmy? I also realized I worked with Reeve Carney (Dorian Gray) many, many moons ago when he was a child model (posted a pic on my instagram if your interested... @rossignolfoto he even reposted it wink camera_with_flash )

I often avoid boards with shows I am not up to date on for fear of spoilers... so I thought a thread for others like myself who may have also just gotten around to watching it and might like to discuss it. So here you go! cat2

Well, I did like the atmosphere and the style of first season, and several characters, that got me hooked. Eva Green was really phenomenal in her performance.

I enjoyed the first season and the last, second season bore me to death

I looked at your Instagram page. Are you a photographer? Those are great photos. I didn't recognize Reeve, though I did not scroll all the way through.

I enjoyed most of the series. I did not enjoy the scenes with Eva Green in the sanitarium or other times when she was so severely distressed. I can't say exactly why I didn't like those scenes, but I didn't. I could not wait for them to end. Perhaps I just don't like to see her suffer. I hated the way John Claire spoke and behaved in those first episodes. I guess I never got over that and I hated his scenes throughout the show until the very end that is when he was.....oops I almost gave a spoiler there.
Well I won't say anything more in this thread until you say you have finished the series.

Yes, I am. You have to scroll back a bit, this is an old post. smile_cat

I am guessing that by now you've finished watching the series. What did you think of it? Spanning three continents, with interesting characters and subplots, fantastic scenery, etc. it had me hooked once I began watching. I "binge watched it" all on Netflix.
