在2013年2月18日发售的漫画杂志《漫画LIFE》4月号的封面上正式宣布了《麻雀酒店》动画化的消息，电视动画将在2013年4月播放，每话5分钟。

每回动画放送后播出由片中声优茅原实里和长岛遥主演的原创真人娱乐节目《麻雀酒店利用须知》，两位声优将化身“武斗派女招待”出现在节目中。

动画在播出后因为人设崩坏等问题在播出后基本没有引发话题。为此，官方继2013年4月中旬宣布DVD版的作画质量和人设将和TV播出版不同以后，在5月又宣布从第7话开始将启用新任监督伊魔崎斋 。

The comedy revolves around Sayuri Satou, the new front desk worker at the Sparrow's Hotel—"the closest hotel to Heaven". Her special features are her large breasts and her skills of assassination. She takes down people who cause trouble in the business hotel with those skills, but she is in fact very unskilled when talking to the male hotel manager, and often bites her tongue.

Im Anime geht es um Sayuri Satou, die neu im Hotel arbeitet. Durch ihren großen Vorbau und ihr hübsches Äußeres wirkt sie wie ein Magnet für männliche Hotelgäste. Doch der Schein trügt, denn wenn jemand im Hotel Ärger bereitet und randaliert, verwandelt sich das sonst so süße und freundliche Mädchen in eine wahre Kampfmaschine und streckt so jeden nieder. Allerdings hat auch Sayuri einen Schwachpunkt. Denn all ihr Mut verlässt sie, sobald es darum geht, auch nur ein Wort mit ihrem männlichen Hotelmanager zu sprechen. Dann schafft sie es sogar, sich vor lauter Nervosität beim Sprechen auf ihre Zunge zu beißen.
