Ben più tesa la storia, diretta dallo stesso Hitchcock, in cui un bambino che ama giocare alla guerra s'impossessa della pistola di suo zio e, senza rendersi conto di cos'abbia in mano, se ne esce di casa puntandola un po' contro chiunque.

Legge svogliatamente una rivista, si lima le unghie, tenta con la televisione ma è rotta... infine decide di chiamare la polizia perché è sicura di aver sentito un ladro sul terrazzo.

L'investigatore si fa assumere a sua volta per entrare nelle grazie della donna e capire se ha un amante (e così confermare i sospetti del marito), mettendo in luce una situazione un po' particolare.
