讨论 Kolchak: The Night Stalker

So... Where do we go from here? It's time to make a decision. Personally I'd go for another show. This little forum we're buried in right now is more of a hiding place, but we can figure out ways to attract more people. My intention initially was to contact a few active Kolchak fan groups and invite people to come join, us, but while I question whether that was worth the effort, we ended our run. That is something that can be implemented in the near future. Let's star considering the possibilities.

It's bound to take time for this new set of forums to take off. I say we should start a new show and hope for the best, while spreading the word as best we can.

Frustrating when the boards on most shows don't have any activity yet, but it's gotta start somewhere.

I'm game for continuing on to another show. But first, I need some help. I tried to post my "By the numbers" for this show. I used dashes in front of the entries to make them appear in a nice set of columns. When I hit "preview" the lists were nice, neat columns. Then I hit submit and it turned into garbage - all the columns were just like paragraphs instead. I tried using their "unordered list" function, and it made the last item in the list ridiculously large and in a different font. I finally got ticked off and deleted it. Mad-pac, you are able to list the credits in nice neat columns. How do you do it?

My neat-column-creating skills are exaggerated. I just copied and pasted text from imdb. Please give us a sample of the kind of text you're trying to post, so I can see what I can do about it. Meanwhile, perhaps you might consider creating a table? Like this?

Results
No Competition John Adam Robert Paul
1 Swimming 1:30 2:05 1:15 1:41
2 Running 15:30 14:10 15:45 16:00
3 Shooting 70% 55% 90% 88%

You might manage to make use of this website. The only problem is that the tables go all the way from left to right margin, while that doesn't happen in the generator and isn't supposed to happen at all. I'm still getting the hang of it.

(To me Markdown language on this site makes as much sense to me as magic, inasmuch as both are inexplicable and with unpredictable results.)

Here is a portion of what I was trying to do. As I said, it looked like nice neat columns when I hit preview, but you see what it looks like here.

Highest–ranked episodes by individuals

  • -Brimfin – The Zombie, The Devil’s Platform, Bad Medicine, Horror in the Heights (10)
  • -Simian_Jack – The Zombie, Firefall, The Spanish Moss Murders (10)
  • -BobPeters61 – Horror in the Heights (10)
  • -Cloister56 – Firefall, The Trevi Collection (9)
  • -Mad-pac – Horror in the Heights, The Trevi Collection (9)
  • -Lorkis – Ripper (9)
  • -HawkMan47 – Legacy of Terror (9)

I too would like to continue. I've enjoyed reading everyone's views and watching a show I otherwise would have missed.
I don't get much chance with my job to write much prose so it's nice to write a bit about something for fun.
I guess the options are:. 1) post exclusively on tmdb, accepting it will take time for this place to get busy.
2) post here but copy and paste our posts to some other boards. This may attract more eyes and participation. How much we use the other boards could vary.
This could annoy people on the boards I suppose.
3) I don't know if this is possible but post a link on relevant boards incase people want to join in. Either a proper link if the board allows or just one post saying who we are and where and what we are doing, inviting people to join in here.
Those are the first few options that spring to mind.
I'm enjoying the different formats going on, the table looks best I think so far.

The first table obviously, the last one is a bit streeeeeeetched

I think we just choose another show. But lets streamline the process. 48 hours for nominations, 48 hours for voting. How many nominations or preference votes is up to madpac, but no tactical voting. We get one chance to vote, once you've registered preferences that that is that. No editing or changing votes.

Well, if we can't change our votes, then I want to vote last. (Which is precisely the reason vote editing was allowed, so people wouldn't be concerned about who voted when.)

The first two tables are the same one, I mean, same code, just a different number of columns. The last one, however, is different, and I managed to have some control over width. But no matter what I do, the first column gets really stretched in terms of width in relation to the other columns, and that's not supposed to happen. I don't know how to change that. If you guys want, I can post the markdown code I used. Perhaps someone can suggest something different?

I can have a go, I may accidentally delete the entire Kolchak section grin
