I guess the rumors were true that they were dragging this out for syndication purposes, they could at least give the fans a final episode in the last season to close the series out.

The last episode made it seem like the showrunners weren't sure, similar to S2's ending.

I have a feeling that they knew, they just rushed this season so they could finish it and push out for syndication to some other network willing to purchase it. If you look at seasons individually, you can tell that something happened after Season 2 which caused the series to fall apart between seasons 3-4, bottom line something happened after season 2 which caused a change in the tone of the series.

I know what you're talking about. I would say it would have started around S2 and ended by S3. Hence why S4 was almost like a reboot.

It was actually after season 1. After Len Wiseman left and passed over the reins things changed. There is a writer, I can't remember the name but he must of had a thing for the actress that played Katrina or what but this began Katrinagate. Everything that worked in season 1 was missing. The show began to push abby in the background, they originally killed off Frank but was forced to bring him back. Hawley was I guess was suppose to be there to replace jenny I think. They were lovers but then they had him hitting on Abby. The drama behind season 2 & some of the writers was the reason Nicole bounced. Look up the sleepy hollow tags on tumblr. They got most of the tea.

Yeah, Season 2 was when the Sleepy Hollow train started to follow apart, I remember Katrina gate and I think the reason she was fired was because she was vocal about the changes, which they didn't want to hear, they also introduced Neil Jackson as the alter-ego of the horsemen, whom only Katrina could communicate with through a magic amulet, rumor has it that they fired him over the phone. Then you had a multitude of one-off stories with Hawley and Jenny and they got rid of the Hawley character by having him leave to retrieve some mystical coins or something. I also remember the John Cho Character Andy Brooks, he was the only evil being that survived season 2 and after that his character was never seen again, something tells me that he got fed up with season 2 and walked prior to season 3 and they wrote his character out of the series. So you are right that season 2 was the start of the downfall of SH.
