The problem here is the pilot episode "The Murder of Sherlock Holmes", because:

• according to IMDb it's episode 0.
  
• according to Wikia it's episode 1.
  
• according to Wikipedia it's episode 1+2.
  
• according to the DVD synopsis on Amazon it's no episode, but "a suspenseful original pilot movie".
  

It looks like the current chaos of the TMDb entry for season 1 is a result of all these variations (in different languages).

My problem is now: To fix this, which of these 4 options is the correct one? I didn't come to a conclusion, yet.

It was a two-hours premiere. I think it's fair to assume it's a single episode.

I fixed all the S1 translations that were added wrong. (None of the users made sure they matched the original data. )

I have a question -> I just read in the bible that "pilot episodes should be entered as the first episode of the first season (1x01)."

However, it's not a 100% mandatory rule for all pilots, because there's 1 exception:

"The pilot episode of an existing series can be added to the special season if didn't aired on television as part of the original first season. This might be the case when there is, for example, a significant cast change and a new pilot is remade with the new cast. Unaired pilots are often released as bonus content on the series' DVDs."

My question is in regards to the bold part: What should I do if the pilot aired "as a 2-hour Pilot Movie" 6 months before the rest of season 1? Meaning, it's not an unaired pilot, but it's also not really part of season 1. Or, is it?

I believe you made the right call. They first aired a test pilot and the actual series premiered in the fall.

Oh, these are actually the guidelines for new/upcoming pilots. It just means that new pilots should be added as the first episode of a new series rather than as a film, as episode 1x0 or as a special episode. But of course we always follow the original TV listing. When these pilots ended up not being counted as 1x01 for whatever reason, we always move them to the specials.
