not sure about the masses but this is definatley on my short list of best shows on tv. like outlander and power i think the show suffers a bit from stars' lack of viewers/subscribers. hopefully american gods can play catch up. but anyways, i think black sails has everything you'd want from a show of its genre. from the first episode i think the show has gotten better and better. kudos to michael bay.

Episode 3 was tough. Teech getting pulled under the ship over and over again. It's as almost as if they botched the taking of the ship on purpose. Seemed like a dead give away that something was rotten in Denmark before the ambush occurred. Fight in the street with billy bones and crew coming to aid was $. Silver giving the nod for execution was great too. Solid, solid episode.

Episode 4 solid again. Ann's fight on the ship, silvers leadership/dictatorship, the rise of this Julius, Rodgers decision... this show continues to crank out grand slams.

Yeah, last week's episode was great! Very intense and some of it was hard to watch. I am really looking forward to see how the story gets wrapped up.

Teach getting pulled under that boat was insane.

Oh I did, I mentioned above, the fight with Ann against the mountain was albeit quick but ridiculous. The show seems to one up itself every week. Yeah, that guy would win a lot of stuffed animals at the county fair for sure.

@czargasm as for how it gets wrapped up... this show is the prequel to the book "treasure island". If you've read it that should give you an idea.

Things are heating up and the doo is about to be flung. Man this show knows how's to maintain suspense. I am going to miss it very very much in five weeks. I assume julious will side with the pirates and we will have a pillar to post, tooth and nail, toe to toe, back lot brawl for a few straight episodes only to leave us on a cliffhanger.

It's called keelhauling, I believe. Looks pretty painful.

Man, Teach's death was something else. I mean obviously the guy was going to get offed, but...damn. It wasn't just visually gruesome, it really got in my head. It takes a pretty special scene to make me feel physically sickened by something I know isn't real, but this...this was definitely up there. Again, it was more the psychological aspect of it: thinking about it from Teach's perspective, from the rest of the pirates' perspective, and even from the British soldiers' perspective. It felt like a long scene as a viewer, but something like that must have seemed to last for days to anyone unlucky enough to witness, or worse, experience it. I really wanted to cheer for Teach for being so strong willed for not dying (and in turn, unintentionally(?) not allowing Rogers to inflict the same punishment on the remainder of the crew) while simultaneously just wishing his suffering to end. I'd never heard of keelhauling before. What incredible torture. Days after watching it I realized it must have been even worse than I originally thought because salt water stings like a bitch. The depravity we humans come up with constantly surprises me. That said, this show is phenomenal. Plot, characters, score, it literally has everything. Not to mention the acting abilities of every single person cast. I've seen a lot of people rip on the character development but I think they must be watching something else entirely. Each and every character has come SO far from where they were in season 1. Specifically, Flint, Silver and Billy's progression/regression/whatever you want to call it is so compelling, so thorough, so immense that it is truly incredible to watch. I didn't really "get" that until a few days ago after deciding to rewatch from the beginning before I started season 4. I'm sad it is ending but glad they get to finish THEIR story THEIR way, something most shows miss out on. Besides, at a certain point you just can't top what has already been done. This got a little off topic, sorry. But yes, the last 20 minutes of episode 3 was amazing. Stomach-turning, yes, but excellent nonetheless.
