Overblik

Politiinspektøren Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) redder den 12-årige Tui Mitcham fra at begå selvmord i den iskolde Lake Wakatipu i New Zealand. Det rejser en masse spørgsmål, men pludselig er Tui væk. Sammen med en lokal politimand, Al Parker (David Wenham), begynder Robin at grave i sagen. Tuis far, Matt Mitcham (Peter Mullan), en narkohandler, mener, at hans datter nok skal klare sig, men Robin er ikke så sikker. Det viser sig, at pigen er gravid, og at faderen måske er et pædofilt tidligere medlem af familien.
