Tonight he actually said that Nia putting Ronda in a bearhug was good for Ronda because it gives Ronda a chance to rest and collect herself.

I challenge anyone to present me with anything a wrestling commentator has ever said that is dumber than that. Jesus.

Don't forget when someone got hit with a code red and Coach asked "what good does that do?"

I don't know, what good does it do to drive someone's head and neck into the mat so they can't get up to climb a ladder or stop you from climbing one?

Uh he's reading from a script just like everyone else so if not him someone else would have been saying the exact same thing. Coach isn't the problem nor any of the other commentary members. They're just working with what they're giving.

I know they are scripted on a lot of things (mostly key branding phrases), but I guarantee he was not scripted to no-sell a bear hug.

he was scripted to say what was on the script, even if the line on the script does't sell the bear hug.

Nope, not buying he was scripted to say that. It makes ZERO sense they would write him to say something that stupid and then have the other announcers trash him for it. Especially when he's not even meant to be the heel.

Besides, if he were, he could have used that as an excuse instead of going after Dave Meltzer when he said how bad Coach was.

You may not buy it but it doesn't change the fact that it's true. Everything that goes on in a WWE program is 100% scripted. The commentators, the wrestlers, the ring announcers, and occasionally even some of the fans in the audience that are planted in for certain purposes.

Anyway getting back to coach that's just what his character is. It's a somewhat parody of who he was when he worked at ESPN hence the references to sports, etc and the other commentators job is to make fun of that to make us laugh.

Coach's character has always been meant to be made fun of.

"You may not buy it but it doesn't change the fact that it's true."

I don't buy it because it doesn't make a lick of sense and you've given me no compelling reason to think otherwise. Especially when things exist to contradict that. For example, if commentators are 100% scripted, why does Vince bark orders through the ear piece ? How do we get situations like JBL saying title belt, followed by a pause and a frustrated expression? If he were 100% scripted, there's no reason he should be making blunders like that.

Sorry, but saying "well it's true" does not convince me when there's so much else that does not fall into line with that.

"Coach's character has always been meant to be made fun of."

Except they aren't making fun of him. It's not being played for comedy. They're just yelling at him and chewing him out on air during an important, marquee match. Also, Coach isn't even playing a heel, so it makes even less sense.

Well you're going to believe what you choose to believe at the end of the day but it doesn't change the fact that what I said is true. Coach doesn't need to be a face or heel, back in the day before the heel turn he wasn't face or heel when Rock was making fun of him he was just a goofy interviewer, and now he's basically that at the commentary table.

Just saying "it' s true" over and over doesn't make it so. Sorry.

Also, the Rock made fun of Coach on his own, they didn 't write Coach to say stupid things to make that happen. Also the Rock did that to all the people who interviewed him, and he did it in interview segments, not on commentary during PPV main event level matches.

Uh huh. Saying all that doesn't make any of that true either but hey believe what you want person. I like coach. bye bye now.
