Discuti The Americans

He shows up first in IHOP but frankly can't remember the circumstances. Who is he, where did he come from and why did he call Phillip and Elizabeth Mom and Dad in the season finale? I've read most of the episode recaps and for being such a major player in these last 4 episodes, none of the recaps mention him.

He is a communist agent out of Vietnam that works with Philip and Elizabeth. Even though he is 25ish I think, he looks very young for his age so he has taken on the part as their son and goes to school with Pasha, the son of Evgenjyia and Misha. The mission was to convince the family to go back to Russia by any means necessary.

I gathered as much, but I can't figure out why neither my husband nor I can remember when he was introduced as a character. I just now figured out how they pawned him off as their son, I just realized they are living in a different house with him. Did either of the kids know about him? Thanks for your reply, helping me bit it together.

Yeah he just showed up one episode so there wasn't any kind of introduction. The dialogues told the story. And no, the kids know nothing of his existence. It's like this with certain shows, you're lost if you miss even one episode because they don't revisit the subject. And in this, for obvious reasons maybe :)

Thanks, at least I'm not losing what's left of my mind!

They didn't exactly show Liz and Phil getting their orders to conduct surveillance and convince the Russian Family to go back to Russia, I believe the Husband was an ex-pat who had criticized the government and him and his family had to flee Russia as a result. The audience was already thrown in the middle of the op after they had established a residence with Tuan as part of the deal. I think it ended with the family separating with husband staying in America, mostly due to fear of retaliation, and the wife and son going back. Which was somewhat foreshadowing the final season in regards to Liz and Phil's family.

Tuan is the Asian Henry.

"Where's Henry?"

"I don't know. Who cares? Let's go take Chicken McNuggets to Tuan."

Thank you, I’m watching Season 5 episode 1 and I’m so confused with what is going on. Eliz and Phil have a new career and disguises and live with this other kid name Tuan. I couldn’t figure out what the heck was going on so I came here to find out.
