Darrin's Irish ancestry

One of Darrin's forefathers is Darrin the Bold. He appears in two episodes, but there is some confusion about which century he lived in.
In S3E05 "A Most Unusual Wood Nymph" Samantha travels back to the 15th century to stop Darrin the Bold from killing Rufus the Red and so remove the curse on Darrin Stephens.
In S7E17 "The Return Of Darrin The Bold" Selena goes back to the 14th century to give Darrin the Bold a potion that will turn him into a warlock, changing his cosmic chromosomes, so that ultimately his descendants will inherit the powers of a warlock.
Whatever century it is, how could Darrin the Bold's descendant Darrin Stephens have become Darrin the Meek?

The century inconsistency is just one of many on this show. It's a shame they didn't try harder for continuity. But they probably never believed that 50 years into the future that people would still be discussion the show. Pretty funny when you think about it.
I think it was common for shows of that time to have such inconsistencies. Not that this excuses it...it's just how things were done.
