I know. I was REALLY disappointed. It was like a bad SNL skit that was mocking W&G. And a skit that went on 29 minutes too long.
When the first political joke was told, I was like - okay - get it out of the way. But I did pause the DVR, look at my wife and said "I have a BAD feeling this is going to be a 30 minute political anti-Trump show". Unfortunately I was right. And I don't care if you are Left or Right - it just wasn't good. I wanted to see W&G. Not W&G rehash the election from almost a year ago. I mean, forced jokes like "Lock her up". Come on - that may have been topical - A YEAR AGO. It was like the writers and stars were pissed they weren't on the air in 2016, so they just forced it into this show in 2017.
There's nothing entertaining about watching actors and writers force feed their political hatred into their characters and mold the story in the same manner. Ugh. It was a nightmare.
We'll tune in again - but if I want political humor, I'll watch SNL. I'm hoping next week we get to actually see W&G. Not Debra Messing's I HATE TRUMP show. Like I said - she and the rest can go on Colbert and do that all night long.
Now this past week (Oct 12th episode) was hilarious and what the OLD show used to be! It wasn't a half hour of anti-Trump, anti-GOP, SNL political jokes. It was W&G!! We loved it! Very refressing not to hear the words "Trump" or "McConnell". While topical, that humor just isn't very funny, and certainly isn't what a lot of people are tuning in for. If they can help themselves and keep the political humor to a minimum, I'll really enjoy the show.

I was thinking that same thing: an overlong Saturday Night Live skit.

I'm not a fan of Trump but yeah, they could definitely leave all this political stuff out of the show. We get it already. It gets old after a while.
