An undercover agent has been found and captured by the syndicate. He is being interrogated. Can the IMF team rescue him before it is no longer useful to keep him alive? Silly question. The real question is: How will they do it?
Well, they use the old "ghost of the loved one" trick on one of the bad guys, spurring him to investigate the real cause of her death. Our boys (with some help from the uncredited but trusty Hartford Repertory Players) drop some clues in his path. Meanwhile, Jim allows himself to be captured by a rival bad guy after they allow him to seduce a receptionist working for the first bad guy.
I was captivated. I had no idea where all this plotting within plotting was going to lead and it was fun watching it unspool. Another win.
The Star Trek connection: the guy beating up and torturing our agent was the creepiest incarnation of the salt vampire in The Man Trap. Here his hair has grown out to a seventies perm (or he used a wig -- I wasn't sure). He doesn't really cut an imposing figure, but he does project a cruel aura that works for this story.

And I forgot most of seasons 2 and 3. I plan to revisit them by and by.

I believe that the captured undercover agent was played by William Boyett, best known for his role as Sgt. MacDonald on Adam-12. BTW, Sushkisoo, have you ever been on the Perry Mason board? I've been binging on the show (I'm sort of on season three) and wondered if it was worth my time to visit.

No, I haven't been on the Perry Mason board. I used to watch that show frequently as a youngster and still catch it on cable TV once in awhile. I am certainly not knowledgeable enough about it to make any meaningful discussion board contribution.

Okay. Actually I already went to the Perry Mason board and it's pretty cool so far.

I didn't like Leona. For some reason Robert Goulet annoys me.

Well I did like it so nyaaa nyaaa nyaaa.
I'm ambivalent to Robert Goulet, but I was entertained by Jim's pseudo romance with the receptionist.

I'm jealous every time Jim has a romance (real or otherwise). So there!

Well you can find some solace in the fact that Jim had no feelings at all for her. She allowed herself to be seduced by him and he allowed her to get him "drunk" so that he could "accidentally" let some vital info slip out. They did not have an opportunity (or desire really) to do anything beyond a kiss or two.
If you want to give your heart to him, you will have to realize that incidents like this are part of the job.
(Regarding his earlier relationship with Joan Collins, on the other hand, you would have to give him a good talking to.)

Did you ever see the 6th season episode Invasion? In the first scene after the opening credits, you see Jim in a restaurant on an actual date with a beautiful woman when The Secretary calls and ruins the whole thing by giving him a mission!

I did watch the 6th season but don't remember that particular scene.
But, yeah, dating any member of the IMF would entail making compromises.

I remember the first time I saw that episode (The Invasion). I've always thought that Kevin MacCarthy was great creepy character actor.

Yeah, he is.
He's another actor I happened to see more than once in the past couple of weeks. He was the villain in the Wild, Wild West episode where Vince Howard was the bar tender and he was an expert forger on Hawaii Five-O.
Now I will rewatch The Invasion.

I never thought Kevin McCarthy was creepy, more like comical, especially after " Innerspace (1987)".
