The show moved from ABC to CBS after season 1. CBS didn't want to spend the money on the 40's sets, cars, costumes etc... It can get quite expensive. So they decided to move the show thirty five years into the future. It was explained that wonder woman comes back from Paradise island to help Steve Trevor jr. , Steve's son! Of course the same actor played both Steve and Steve jr.

But why wonder woman went away is never explained. Nor is what happened to Steve sr. Who he married? Why didn't wonder woman and Steve hook up? Why didn't Diana and Steve hookup? Steve jr. doesn't even ask her where the hell she's been for 35 years.

Hope that clears it up a bit, I still love this show and watch it every now then.
