Die Nonnen bereiten das Fest vor und Evangelina und Dr. Turner planen eine große Schutzimpfungskampagne gegen Polio. Yvonne und Alan erwarten ihr erstes Baby. Die beiden kennen sich seit Kindertagen. Alan leidet seit seinem Kriegseinsatz in Korea an Malaria und Panikattacken. Ein Gespräch mit Trixie über seine schrecklichen Erfahrungen erinnern diese an ihren Vater, der ähnliches im Zweiten Weltkrieg erlebt hat. Cynthia wrestles with a calling to become a nun, but an encounter with a former mental hospital inmate helps her to make up her mind and she leaves midwifery behind to become a postulant.
