Discuss So You Think You Can Dance

I know this is late but I am watching the June 26 episode and I am just blown away by the dancer that calls herself Impavido (the girl with the blue hair). I thought she was incredible. A perfect mix of contemporary with some funky moves. I hope she makes it to the top 10

I can't remember anyone specific from that "long" ago, but for sure absolutely agree there have been some amazing dancers who've been shown doing their auditions. Probably the NYC auditions (which has been the two most recent episodes) have been particularly impressive.

Next Monday is beginning of the Hollywood rounds. Can't wait!

I don't know why I've been slacking on watching the show. I have about 2 more episodes to catch up on. I just watched the first NYC auditions.

Mary and Nigel together have been fun to watch. He had some funny one liners for her tonight. Vanessa...I can take her or leave her.

Yes, I cant wait for the Hollywood rounds. I always enjoy watching the group choreography.

I've enjoyed all of the episodes so far this season. I like Vanessa on there - though don't particularly think she really adds much to the critical evaluations, though do like that she's been maintaining an ongoing fun and positive vibe. It further adds to the pleasingly upbeat spirit of the show this season.

Mary sure is a major joy to watch. It most definitely was the right decision to return her to the weekly judging panel.

So much talent!!! The All-stars have a tough job. I'm catching up on Monday's episode.

I laughed so hard when Robert gave a major side eye to the quirky contemporary male dancer who makes weird duck hand movements. I don't think any of the All stars enjoyed his performance.

I still love the blue haired girl. She has a lot of stage presence. Glad she made it through so far.

It looks to be shaping up to be an outstanding season! This year's all-star group is excellent.

A great thing about a competition series like this is that every new season the competitors realize they have to up their game to the highest standard possible or else they won't realistically have a chance. The dancing and athleticism skills and talents keeps getting more impressive!

Very true!!! I am interested to see what the All-star Allison is like. I did not watch her season, so I don't know her as well as all the other All-stars. She seems very (not sure of the right word), confident I guess. I know she is an amazing contemporary dancer.

Looking forward to everything!!

I don't remember anything specific about Allison from during her contestant season, but in a general type way remember that she was really excellent and that she was one of my favourites.

By the way, she subsequently married later contestant Twitch. According to Wikipedia (which I just now checked) they apparently are still married. She has two kids, one (born last year) with Twitch, the other (born when she was 20) from a prior relationship.

genplant29, your post made me laugh because the first thing I did when I saw her was googled whether her and Twitch were still together! That was really the only thing I knew about her. Im not sure which season it was (or which show for that matter) that they showed how he proposed to her on top of a table.

I hope Twitch comes on and they do an update on their family.

I wonder if Allison and Twitch have been the only marriage of SYTYCD Top 20 contestants to date.

Hard to believe this annual competition series has now been airing for so many years - since way back in 2005 - as sure doesn't seem that long.

I would love to know that as well. I would think they get pretty close (emotionally as well as physically). I know that hip hop dancer Dominic was dating a contemporary dancer, Lauren (I think Kent had a crush on her). They have since broken up. That is the only other coupling I know about.

One of my favourites, Joshua (hip hop) and winner of season 4 was charged with domestic abuse. That really broke my heart. He had so much potential and was in a few movies.

Wow, it started 12 years ago??? It does not seem that long ago. It's funny to hear some of the kids, say " I grew up watching this show". Boy is that ever accurate!

Cat Deeley is gonna go into middle age right before our very eyes before the series is eventually done and over with. lol. She was just 28 when the series began, and is now 40 (going on 41).

I remember that during the first season or two Nigel was married and his wife (British woman of similar age to his own) at the time was one of the ongoing auditions-rounds judges. That sure does seem like forever ago.

Wow!! What a wonderful night of dance!! I think the judges stood for almost all of the routines!!! There were so many great routines.

I am happy with the elimination. His cuteness/personality is not enough to save him.

I just finished watching last night's show and am pleased with this week's elimination.

At this point, I think I'm probably rooting most for Lex to win. After that it's a close call for me, as I like nearly all of the other contestants more or less interchangeably equally - namely very much - to one another for 2nd place.

Yikes: There are now only two episodes left, I gather?! Summer 2018 seems like such a looong way off..... worried

Only two episodes left??? How the heck did that happen?!?!? Sorry if I spoiled anything for you. I wish we had the spoiler alert bar that IMDB used to have.

I agree with you. I love all of the dancers but after Lex did that triple spin tonight, he is certainly my pick. He is truly mind-blowing.

I think this is the first year that I would want to see the contestants on tour. They are that good!!

I watched this week's new episode, then went online and saw the notification e-mail for your post of around 90 minutes ago, then read and responded to that post. So rest assured that nothing was spoiled. relaxed

There's something about Lex that he not only has the awesome talent, and tremendous unique moves, but also he has a true distinctive "signature style" somehow, that week after week makes him a real show-stopper, leaving viewers feeling like we're seeing something we haven't seen before. His humble, but never bland, personality "seals the deal."

I may be mistaken about there now being only two episodes left, but reached that conclusion based on that now there are six contestants left, and Cat stated that next week will be a double elimination, so only four will remain at that point. I immediately presumed, upon learning of next week two going home, that the following week it'll be a 4-contestants finale. But perhaps week after next just one contestant will get zapped, then there would be a 3-contestants finale three weeks from now. Actually, that would make sense, and probably is how things will be. I hope so, as the longer things stretch out, the better!
